Dr. Giorgio Trinchieri at the National Cancer Institute (NCI)'s Center for Cancer Research has long stood at the forefront of cancer therapies. This year, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences for his achievements in studying the immune system and how it might be better leveraged to combat cancer. More specifically, his work in identifying the mechanisms regulating the activity of certain immune cells and how the environment around a tumor interacts with the immune system to suppress an immune response to the disease. #NIH_IRP Read on to learn more about Dr. Trinchieri's research: https://go.nih.gov/rtS39Mq
