"On average, PMOs have a life-span 2-3 Years" True stat, or apocryphal claim? The oft-cited statement "PMOs have an average life-span of 2.5 years" came up in a recent thread. I'm not knocking the person that made the statement (it was made in good faith) , but rather that I think this claim has been repeated so often that everyone just assumes it's true (and by extension that it's 'true' by virtue of research). I think in reality it's the mischaracterization of 13+ year old research, but it should be fairly easy to test with a simple question, and some examples. And we'll make it even a bit broader - 4 years. If you have firsthand knowledge/experience of a PMO that was shut down in less than 4 years, for 'performance reasons', let me know in the comments. Now, a few ground rules - - No anecdotal examples - "I heard about one", "We all know it's true', etc. I'm looking for actual 'examples'. - If the PMO 'changed', this doesn't count. Change happens for a number of reasons. - No PMOs that were intended as temporary in the first place. "On average" means 'more often than not', so if this is true, with the number of project and PMO professionals here in LI it should be fairly easy to get examples. If not, then we may have to look at the claim a bit closer. Aaaand.......GO! 😁

Did you know that there is more than one kind of MOS? The mean opinion score (MOS) is the telco industry standard for measuring speech quality, but it comes in many different flavors, depending on how it is measured, what it measures, and what the users’ expectations are. Check out this article for more on that >> https://lnkd.in/d9j-r-WT #MOS #MeanOpinionScore #VoiceQuality #VoiceMonitoring #VoiceStatistics #Voipfuture

Sr. Game Designer at Intrepid Studios, Inc
3moFun bit of trivia about that bat model, my 7 year old daughter participated in the brainstorming meeting to design it during Take Your Child to Work day! Her feedback and ideas were thoughtful considered and iterated upon by the other designers and artists in the meeting. It was so cool to have them include her in the discussions! Thanks Doug, Jason, and Ali!
