5 Common Design Mistakes Startups Make and How to Avoid Them As a product designer, I’ve worked with several startups, and I’ve seen recurring design pitfalls that can slow down growth and waste resources. Here are 5 common mistakes and how you, as a startup founder or CEO, can avoid them: Skipping User Research Mistake: Jumping straight into development or design without understanding your target audience. How to Avoid It: Invest in user research early. Interview potential users, analyze competitors, and define personas. A deep understanding of your audience saves time and money in the long run. Overcomplicating the Product Mistake: Trying to add too many features in your MVP (Minimum Viable Product). How to Avoid It: Focus on solving one core problem exceptionally well. Build a lean MVP, gather user feedback, and iterate based on real needs. Simplicity wins. Neglecting Mobile Optimization Mistake: Designing for desktop first, assuming mobile users can adapt. How to Avoid It: Prioritize mobile-first design, especially if your audience is in markets where mobile is dominant. Test your product on multiple devices to ensure seamless user experiences. Ignoring Design Consistency Mistake: Using inconsistent design styles, colors, or components across your product. How to Avoid It: Create a scalable design system that ensures a cohesive user experience across all touchpoints. Consistency builds trust and brand recognition. Underestimating the Power of UX Mistake: Viewing design as just "making things look good" rather than as a driver of business growth. How to Avoid It: Involve designers early in your business strategy. Good UX can reduce churn, boost engagement, and directly impact your bottom line. Takeaway: Great design isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. By avoiding these common pitfalls, you can save resources, delight your users, and position your startup for growth. What’s your biggest challenge with product design? Let’s discuss in the comments! 💡 #StartupDesign #ProductDesign #UXStrategy #UIUX #StartupGrowth #UserExperience #CEOTips #MVPDesign #DesignThinking #BusinessGrowth #Entrepreneurship #DesignForStartups

Most founders kill their project at the start. They skip the right steps. Here’s how it goes: ➞ I have a great idea ➞ Friends say it’s brilliant ➞ I run some quick surveys ➞ Hire a developer for the build ➞ Small budget, so I DIY the rest ➞ Launch as soon as possible ➞ Spend everything on marketing ➞ No one comes. Or they never stay ➞ I tweak buttons and move screens ➞ Nothing works ➞ I feel burnt out ➞ I give up And ok maybe it works 1% of the time. Do you want to risk it? A better way of doing it: ➞ Have an idea? Find prospects first ➞ Run interviews. Listen, don’t guess ➞ Adjust your concept based on real feedback ➞ Make a paper prototype. Test it ➞ Design in Figma. Test it again ➞ Now build, knowing your idea has demand ➞ Launch with a waiting list, not hope How is it better? You don’t guess. You don’t spend money on anything unless you know it’s what people want. Ask>Guessing Unblock your growth by fixing UX mistakes. 👇 Free Guide: https://lnkd.in/ekQ5s4rG #personalbranding #productdesign #startup #ux #entrepreneurship

For startups, the journey is exciting but full of challenges—tight budgets, quick deadlines, and competing priorities. Amid all this, it’s easy to overlook design. But here’s the reality: 🚨 Poor UI/UX can lead to: User Drop-offs: 88% of users won’t return after a bad experience. Lost Revenue: Confusing or poorly designed interfaces can cost you paying customers. Scalability Issues: Fixing design mistakes later is more expensive and time-consuming. For design newbies, this highlights why your role is vital. For professionals, it’s a reminder to ensure the designs you deliver align with business and user goals. 🌟 The Power of Great Design Good UI/UX isn’t just about pretty visuals; it’s about: ✅ Making products intuitive and enjoyable to use. ✅ Solving real user problems with simplicity and clarity. ✅ Helping businesses achieve their goals by driving engagement and retention. Hey startup hustlers! Let's talk UX design. No, it's not just making things pretty (though who doesn't love a glow-up?) Picture this: You've got an app that could revolutionize dog walking. Awesome! But if users can't figure out how to book a walk without accidentally ordering a cat instead, you're in the doghouse. 🐕🙅♂️🐈 Good UX is like a good first date. It's smooth, intuitive, and leaves 'em wanting more. Bad UX? That's like showing up in your pajamas and talking about your ex all night. Yikes. Here's why UX design is your startup's best friend: 1. First impressions count: Users decide if they like your product faster than you can say "seed funding." 2. Save that cash: Fix problems early, avoid costly do-overs. Your investors will thank you (and maybe buy you a coffee). 3. Trust builder: A slick interface says "we've got our sh*t together" better than any pitch deck. 4. Stand out from the crowd: In a sea of startups, be the peacock. A beautiful, functional peacock. 5. Happy users = 🤑: They'll stick around, tell their friends, and maybe even pay you. Wild, right? Remember, folks: You wouldn't serve a gourmet meal on a garbage can lid. Don't serve your brilliant idea with subpar UX. #StartupLife #UXDesign #EntrepreneurTips

💡 From Dreamer to Designer: Why Startups Are My True Passion 🚀 A few years ago, I stumbled upon a question that changed my life: “Why do some amazing ideas fail to connect with people?” The answer? Design. I realized that design isn’t just about making things “look nice.” It’s about making things work. It’s about creating experiences that feel natural, solve problems, and keep people coming back. Fast forward to today, after working with startups for 2 years, I’ve seen it all: 👉 Incredible apps that users abandoned because the interface was confusing. 👉 Amazing products hidden behind cluttered, ineffective websites. 👉 Founders with BIG visions struggling to make their ideas resonate with users. That’s where my love for startups began. I admire their boldness, grit, and ambition. And now, I’m on a mission to help them shine with user-centered designs that don’t just attract users—they keep them coming back for more. If you’re a founder or startup enthusiast, let’s chat: 💬 What’s one UI/UX challenge you’ve faced (or are currently facing)? 💬 What’s one feature you wish your favorite app had? Drop your thoughts in the comments or DM me—I’d love to hear your story and share a tip or two! Let’s build something extraordinary, together. 🙌 #StartupSuccess #UIUXDesign #FounderLife #DesignThatWorks

Day 4 of #buildwithakshat Challenge: Wireframing in Full Swing 🖋️ Day 4 of the #buildwithakshat challenge was all about wireframing. I made significant progress today and completed the details of our landing page for SYNCQR.AI. By the end of this week, I aim to have all the wireframes completed! 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠? Wireframing is a crucial step in the design process. It helps in visualizing the structure and flow of the application without getting bogged down by design details. Here’s what I focused on: - Minimal & Aesthetic Designs: Inspired by Apple’s design philosophy, I’ve kept the designs clean and elegant. Simplicity is the ultimate flex! - User-Centric Approach: Ensuring the user experience is seamless and intuitive is key to our success. 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: For those who aren’t familiar with design software or wireframing, remember this: no one knows your app better than you do. Even if you’re not a designer, draft your own designs. Your insights are invaluable in shaping the final product. Whenever we do any project BrainBox Apps, for our clients, wireframing is the most important step we consider. I’m excited to share a sneak peek of me working on the wireframes—check out the image below! 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮: What is the first step you do after you decide to build your digital products?
