It’s the last Friday of the year - perfect time for a year in review. 1. This was my first real year working full time in IT. The job titles I’ve held this year are: - Tech Support Analyst - System Support Analyst - Workstation Support Analyst ***I guess I’m good at analyzing things lol. 2. I worked my first contracting role and it was inside of a large company. Here I learned valuable information on systems I hadn’t previously used that I will use to help me get the next role on my journey - Systems Admin. Though the experience wasn’t all I hoped it would be, I am still grateful for the opportunity I had to learn new skills. 3. I networked! This was a big goal for me this year and though it may seem like I didn’t make many new connections, I definitely engaged in more professional conversations than I previously would have so it was a plus for me. 2023 was decent, but here’s to an even better 2024! #yearinreview #firstyear #entryleveltech #systemadministrator

Software testing is the process of finding errors in the developed product. It also checks whether the real outcomes can match expected results, as well as aids in the identification of defects, missing requirements, or gaps. Testing is the penultimate step before the launch of the product to the market. #softwaretester #tester #opentowork

Am I doing something wrong? This is a question I often ask myself in my job search. I get messages on LI from recruiters and make an effort to reply in a timely manner. After my initial reply, I periodically send follow ups with my personal email so they can send me an invitation for a call. These will go unanswered. Recruiters and hiring managers, is it too much to spend 2 minutes to reply or ask me follow up questions? I'm available. I'm not waiting 24/7 by my phone or computer to instantly reply, but I am available almost any day and during regular business hours. Hit me up and let's talk about how I can contribute to your organization and bring better software products to the end user. #needajob #sdet #testing #qalead #remotework

Staff Software Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer, Tech Lead | Linux | Kubernetes | Observability | Cloud
A lot of software engineers don't care enough about on-call when they're interviewing for a new job. On-call is one of the few items that can have a massive impact on your personal life, so you should understand what that impact will be before accepting an offer. Some questions I like to ask about on-call... 🔥 How often are you on-call? Anything more frequent than 25% of the time can be tough. 🔥 How long are you on-call for? Are rotations a week long? Anything longer and you can get bad on-call fatigue. But too short means you're on-call more often. 🔥 How many people are on-call at the same time? Is there a primary and a backup? 🔥 What's the expected response time to acknowledge the incident/page? 🔥 What's the expected time to be actively working the incident? That's not always the same as ack'ing. 🔥 Is the rotation 24/7 or something else, like business hours only or no weekends? 🔥 How many pages does the primary on-call get on average? What's a bad rotation look like? What's a good rotation look like? 🔥 What does the business hours work look like for the on-call? Or they doing toil tasks or still doing project work if there are no incidents? There's more to on-call than a lot of people think. And all of the answers to those above questions have a direct impact to your personal life! #softwareengineering #softwaredevelopment #sre #sitereliabilityengineering
