Happy National Senior Citizens Day! Today, there are more people part of the celebrated group than the year it was established in 1991 – and the aging population is only expected to grow in the coming decades. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12.4% of the population was 65 year and older in 2000. In 2020, 16.8% was 65 and older. By 2030, the percentage is expected to surpass 20%. At the same time, PACE has grown to try to meet the needs of older citizens. According to the National PACE Association, in 1994 (the founding year of NPA) there were less than 2,000 participants. In 2024, the number swelled to almost 73,000 participants.
