Today is World Intellectual Property Day and I couldn't be more excited to celebrate the incredible innovations and creations that have shaped our world. As a proud advocate for intellectual property rights, I believe in the importance of protecting and honoring the hard work and creativity of individuals and organizations. Intellectual property is not just a legal concept, it is a reflection of our human ability to imagine, create, and innovate. It is a testament to our collective intelligence and ingenuity as a society. So today, let's take a moment to appreciate all the patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets that have revolutionized industries and improved our lives. As an entrepreneur myself, I understand the value of intellectual property in fostering innovation and ensuring that creators are properly rewarded for their work. It is crucial that we continue to support and strengthen intellectual property laws to protect the rights of creators and encourage further innovation. So on this World Intellectual Property Day, I challenge you to think about the importance of intellectual property in our society and how it impacts not only creators but also consumers. By upholding strong intellectual property laws, we can promote a culture of creativity and innovation that benefits us all. Let's work together to safeguard the rights of creators and ensure a bright future for intellectual property.

The March 2024 patent rule amendment aims to bring significant changes to align with international standards, foster innovation, and safeguard inventors' rights. These changes are expected to catalyze a surge in patent applications and processing in the country. An important addition to the amendment is the provision of a "certificate of inventorship" under rule 70A. This provision is designed to confer formal recognition to inventors and, in turn, bolster their motivation to continue developing groundbreaking ideas. 📚 Summer Lunch & Learn Series 📚 Our lawyers are always furthering their education, and we're excited to be continuing our Summer Lunch & Learn Series! This series is designed for our summer fellows to help them get a taste of the different offerings here at Morse. Even though the series is dedicated to our fellows, everyone in the firm is still encouraged to join to either learn something new, or brush up on their knowledge. Erin Bryan is one of our patent attorney's here at Morse, and she reviewed the fundamentals of patents - what patents are, creating a patent, conditions for patents, and parts of the patent application. There is a lot that goes into creating a patent and it requires a meticulous level of attention to detail to ensure that a patent guarantees comprehensive coverage of an invention. Erin also briefly discussed the basics of other areas of Intellectual Property including trade secrets, copyright, and trademark - what an info-packed session! Want to learn more or have any questions? Reach out to one of our IP attorneys today! #IP #patent #LunchAndLearn #summer #education #LawFirmLife

Amazing co-presenting at Day 3/3 of PatCon 12 with the phenomenal Colleen Chien and awesome Tabrez Ebrahim at the “Patenting, Gender & Ethnicity” block on “Diversity Considerations in the Five Elements on Patent Law Practice” which I define as (1) patent prosecution, (2) trial / district court patent litigation, (3) appellate patent litigation at the Federal Circuit & SCOTUS, (4) PTAB practice and (5) ITC practice. Got some excellent feedback and pointers from Colleen, Tabrez and attendees like Francisco Tschen on expanding my analysis to patent agents vs. patent attorneys, the ethnicities of those with science/engineering backgrounds who later decide to become patent attorneys and also controlling for the different practitioner stats that vary amongst those five different fields. Planning to publish an initial paper on just the “five elements” and this follow up soon!
