In an EPC contract, the contractor takes full responsibility for designing, procuring and constructing the renewable energy project. The contractor is responsible for delivering the project on time, within budget, and to the agreed-upon specifications and standards. The developer typically provides a defined scope of work and sets the budget for the project, but the contractor is responsible for all aspects of its delivery. In an EPCM contract, the contractor provides construction management services to the developer rather than taking full responsibility for the project. The developer retains control over the design and procurement of the project, while the contractor provides management and supervision of the construction process. The EPCM contractor provides expertise and oversight to ensure that the project is built to the agreed-upon specifications and standards, but the developer is responsible for the actual construction work and procurement of materials and equipment. In summary, an EPC contract provides a turn-key solution for the developer, while an EPCM contract provides support and expertise for the developer to manage the construction process themselves.

While the benefits of rooftop solar are clear, it's important for corporations to work with an experienced Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process. An experienced EPC contractor is less likely to experience logistical issues and delays, ensuring that corporations can achieve the expected savings from their rooftop solar projects. https://lnkd.in/ePqkvi3M #energy #Mexico #solar #procurement #energyefficiency #climateaction

🔑 Owners and investors, it’s time to lead the change!: Move away from the “race to the bottom” procurement models that focus solely on cost and unrealistic delivery times. Embrace a value-based, incentive-driven approach. The benefits? A wider choice of contractors and a supply chain that recognises the value of balanced risk and reward. The Future of Oil and Gas Procurement The oil and gas industry is set to undergo significant changes over the next two decades as the world transitions to more sustainable energy sources. While fossil fuels will still play an important role in meeting global energy demand for the foreseeable future, procurement practices will need to adapt to new market dynamics and emerging technologies. Over the next 20 years, demand for oil is expected to plateau and then gradually decline as electric vehicles become more affordable and widespread. Countries are also setting ambitious targets to increase the share of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. This means that oil producers will face shrinking markets, intensifying competition for market share. Procurement teams will need to focus on minimizing costs and extracting maximum value from every barrel produced. On the gas side, demand is projected to grow slowly but steadily driven by its role in complementing intermittent renewable sources. However, shale gas production has made the US a significant exporter and countries like Australia and Russia are also increasing LNG supplies. This will put pressure on long-term gas contract prices. Procurement will have to ensure competitive and flexible supply agreements. New technologies will also disrupt established business models. Carbon capture and storage could help oil and gas remain part of the energy mix by alleviating climate concerns. Hydrogen produced from natural gas with carbon capture may emerge as a important zero-emissions fuel. Procurement strategies will have to factor in changing resource requirements as assets are retrofitted or repurposed. For the long term health of the industry, oil and gas companies will need to transition towards more sustainable solutions and diversify away from pure-play production. Acquisitions and partnerships focusing on renewable energy, carbon management solutions, and alternative fuels can help secure future growth avenues. Procurement will play a vital role in supporting this transition by carefully evaluating investment and alliance opportunities. Going forward, nimble and innovative procurement practices will be crucial for oil and gas companies to navigate the challenges of energy transition. A future-focused approach emphasizing efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability can help the industry adapt and remain integral to the global energy landscape over the coming decades.
