Rutgers University collaborated with #engineering leaders and members of NJDOT, NJ Transit, Port Authority of NY NJ, MTA, and Gateway Development Commission to help Pave the Way to Meet the Future of Transportation Infrastructure. Bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and academics, the May 2024 symposium at the School of Engineering sought to tackle critical transportation infrastructure challenges facing the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area. Through insightful panel discussions and keynote speakers, the event explored insights into technological advancements, design-build projects, asset management initiatives, and the role of collaborative partnerships in developing complex #infrastructure projects. Malcolm McLaren, McLaren's Executive Chairman of the Board, moderated the closing panel discussion with varied experts on “The Role of Engineering Innovations and Government-Industry-Academe Collaboration in Meeting Transportation Infrastructure Challenges”. Events like this are crucial for shaping the future of #transportation. By fostering collaboration and exchanging ideas, we can develop sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of our growing communities.

We are proud to announce our partnership with Northumbria University, sponsoring two MSc group projects at the Gates Cramlington facility. This collaboration provides students with a unique opportunity to engage in real-world engineering challenges under the mentorship of our experienced engineers, Yulievy Carrero and Juan Contreras. As part of their journey, the students visited our facility, gaining firsthand insight into the manufacturing process of bonded flexible pipes. We are thrilled to foster the next generation of engineering talent. This month for #FeatureFriday we are spotlighting our industrial projects. Today we are looking at our project within Booth Welsh in Irvine. The centre is a partnership between the University of Strathclyde as the operator of National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, North Ayrshire Council, Centre for Process Innovation and Booth Welsh. This project comprised the development of Ayrshire’s new Digital Process Manufacturing Centre (DPMC), which is part of the NMIS. Consider the physical hurdles of an educational research facility situated amongst diverse curriculum-based buildings on a compacted campus—many of which exceed 100 years old. There are operational challenges with cross-disciplinary science researchers sharing facilities. Add to that the complexity of rapidly changing technology, and it becomes a challenge for universities to make the program and infrastructure decisions needed to serve a stationary campus setting for years to come.
