PD Ports aiming to be the UK’s most sustainable port PD Ports has a publicly stated aim to be the UK’s most sustainable port company, with a commitment to reach Net Zero operations by 2040. They have launched their company’s sustainability strategy which, for the first time, marks a formal commitment to PD’s Port’s environmental, social and governance obligations. The strategy contains 17 long-term targets to deliver a sustainable future for one of the UK’s largest ports and will be used to evaluate the company’s decarbonisation and biodiversity efforts. PD Ports has also gone further by enshrining social as well as environmental goals, including a commitment to introduce 3,000 young people to the ports and maritime sector by 2030. This pioneering approach reflects the unique strength of PD Ports’ commitment to supporting communities across Tees Valley and giving young people new opportunities to thrive and succeed. The new strategy has won the support of newly-appointed Maritime Minister Mike Kane, who has praised PD Ports’ efforts and reiterated the new Government’s ambitions to decarbonise the maritime sector. #netzero #socsea24 #decarbonisation #ports #ISeaSMEs Ben Houchen Teesside Freeport #sustainable #environmental https://lnkd.in/euDGdbRY

💬 We asked Viola Jardon (Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)) about how to scale climate innovation. Here’s what she had to say… 🤝 Viola highlighted how the key aspect of scaling climate innovation is collaboration. 🌐 This involves all stakeholders coming together, from policymakers and corporations to financial institutions and innovators. 🚧 She emphasised that we need to create an open dialogue to understand the challenges and opportunities facing the construction sector. 🏗️ This will allow us to test new climate innovations in real-life settings and scale them quickly to accelerate decarbonisation. For example, ACLA®, our groundbreaking solution to addressing emissions from asphalt, used on over 95% of UK roads. 💪 ACLA® is a drop-in carbon negative aggregate which transforms the carbon footprint of asphalt. Every tonne of ACLA® used has permanently sequestered ~800 kg CO2e from the atmosphere. ⏩ Read more about how ACLA® is decarbonising the UK’s roads here: https://lnkd.in/eezFfd7P 🌟 LCM received support from CISL as part of the Manufacturing for good accelerator programme. It was brilliant to have Viola join us for our community event alongside Prince William in the spring. #SustainableConstruction #LowCarbonMaterials #NetZero #LowCarbonConstruction #LocalRoads
