Our case study on Vigevano, conducted as part of the (Un)Affordable Housing and Neighbourhoods laboratory at Politecnico di Milano, with the participation of 9 international student group including myself, has been completed. This project explored whether Vigevano could be a potential alternative living space for those who work in Milan but face difficulties in accessing housing (commuters). As you know, housing prices in Milan are quite high, posing a significant problem for many people. Vigevano, on the other hand, offers more affordable housing prices and a quieter lifestyle despite its proximity to Milan. This project represents an important example of how medium-sized cities can offer solutions to the housing problem in metropolitan areas. Leaning for centuries due to subsidence of the ground underneath, experts have issued an alert and call for a surveillance system.
