#PradhanmantriSuryodayaYojana 📙 Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana is a central government scheme which aims to provide electricity to low and middle-income individuals through solar rooftop installations, along with offering additional income for surplus electricity generation. The Prime Minister said that the power of the sun 🌤 can be harnessed by every household with a roof to reduce their electricity bills and to make them truly Aatmanirbhar for their electricity needs. Also, he directed that a massive national campaign should be started to mobilize residential segment consumers to adopt rooftop solar in large numbers. 🏠 These rooftop solar panels are photovoltaic panels connected to the main power supply unit. 🌳Thus, it reduces the consumption of grid-connected electricity and saves electricity costs for the consumer. This scheme to make India self-reliant in the energy sector will include citizens who belong to the BPL or poor people with very minimal investment. #SolarPanel #RenewableEnergy #MNRE #SaveEnvironment #Corpbiz

In these states, only 17,152 applications from Telangana and 29,740 from Andhra Pradesh have been received so far, reflecting a poor response compared to other regions like Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh where applications are more numerous. The disparity is attributed to the lack of additional subsidies from the state governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, unlike in other states where supplementary incentives are provided alongside the central scheme. For instance, Telangana's provision of free electricity up to 200 units per m...

Solar Roof top story in India , what is required to ensure customers go for it. Three issues highlighted are : 1 Free power in many states for 200- 300 units/household 2 Discoms not keen as it affects their Financials 3 Solar Incentives to reach consumers who invest on time. Free Power is costing many states and instead they can look at converting to Solar Roof top Incentives Module Prices are at historic low and challenge is rapid installation of Roof top capacity among households, hope to see PM Suryadaya scheme takes off fast

🌞 India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has just announced an ambitious new scheme called the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana. The goal is to see solar panels installed on the roofs of 1 crore (10 million) homes in India! This move aims to address the rising per capita electricity consumption in the country while reducing dependence on coal and harmful emissions. 🔌 However, there have been challenges in promoting rooftop solar initiatives in India. As of December 2023, only 11 GW of rooftop solar has been installed, with residential spaces accounting for a mere 2.7 GW. Lack of awareness and high installation costs have been deterrents for households considering solar power. Additionally, delays in receiving subsidies and limited availability of solar loans have further hindered adoption. ⚡ Another hurdle is the process of connecting rooftop solar units to the electricity grid. Power Distribution Companies (Discoms) have been reluctant to support this shift towards solar as it could impact their revenue due to long-term agreements with electricity generators. 🔎 Despite these challenges, achieving the goal of 1 crore solar-powered households is not entirely impossible. A report suggests that the market potential currently stands at approximately 55 lakh (5.5 million) households. To make solar installations more attractive, the government may need to ramp up subsidies and make them more accessible. 🌍 India's renewable energy ambitions and the success of the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana are crucial in fulfilling the country's renewable energy commitments while also saving valuable foreign exchange reserves.
