Helping investors gain an informational edge with high-quality B2B surveys designed by investors for investors. 345 investors rely on us to remove data gaps from their decision-making. Here's now👇
🌟 Reflecting on a Journey and a Vision 🌟 As I paused today to glance back at the road we've traveled at Woozle, a thought struck me – a thought about beginnings, about growth, and about the unique path we've embarked upon in the world of channel check research. It's been a journey marked not just by data and insights, but by a deeper understanding of what makes businesses tick, what drives industries forward, and what lies at the heart of investment decisions that shape futures. I recently shared some thoughts on why starting a career as a channel check research analyst could be the perfect stepping stone for graduates eager to make their mark in investment management on the buyside. The essence of this role – with its direct industry exposure, unique data-gathering prowess, critical analysis, and unparalleled networking opportunities – embodies the very ethos we live by at Woozle. Our mission has always been about more than just delivering insights; it's about cultivating a deep understanding, fostering innovative research practices, and building relationships that last. In an era where everyone seeks a competitive edge, I firmly believe it's these subtleties – the nuanced, the qualitative, the personal connections – that truly make the difference. To our team, our clients, and to the many bright, aspiring investment professionals out there, I say: channel check research is more than a career path; it's a foundation upon which lasting investment acumen is built. It's where you learn not just to see, but to observe; not just to hear, but to listen; and not just to think, but to analyze deeply. As we look forward, we at Woozle carry these principles with us, shaping not just our own careers, but the future of investment research itself. Here's to the journey ahead – may it be as enlightening as the path we've tread! #InvestmentManagement #CareerGrowth #ChannelCheckResearch #ProfessionalDevelopment

Associate at Laz Partners | Credit & Equities - Long/Short and Long-Only Executive Search | Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Traders
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬: When interviewing for a new role, equity analysts should be prepared to answer the following questions (amongst others) to ensure they are able to confidently articulate the positive impact they can to bring to a firm and how joining at such a point in their career can positively shape their development as an analyst. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫? Identifying the specific factors around the job spec that directly align with an equity analyst's current aspirations, and subsequently having the ability to convey this to the interviewer/hiring team, will position a candidate strongly. This might include signalling that the mentorship offered by senior PMs would be invaluable. Alternatively, an example might be that an analyst with a generalist focus in their current role now has the opportunity to specialize in 1-2 sectors/subsectors that they are passionate about. Identifying that a Tech analyst's specific focus on Asian software names (and interlinkages with US Tech companies for example) can demonstrate that they are an ideal candidate for the role. This focused knowledge is usually the result of a keen interest in a sub-sector that fuels their drive to further their exposure and knowledge. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦/𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝? Being able to confidently discuss successful trade ideas (and performance of those trades), with a strong supporting framework is important. This might include identifying earnings inflections or using fundamental research to identify market catalysts that have resulted in price movements. For equity analysts moving into a long/short (market neutral) role, being able to provide examples of pair trades, as well as intersectoral pair trading, demonstrates the strategic mindset of an analyst in identifying specific entry and exit points and also the ability to adjust positions based on market conditions. Additionally, a demonstrable track record of quick promotions & career progression, as well as building unique proprietary models that have resulted in increased investment performance in previous roles, are typically viewed very positively. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 2024, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧@𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬.𝐜𝐨𝐦.

📢 Private Equity Career Path: Private Equity Analyst Straight out of university and without previous full-time experience. They're the rookies, but just as vital to the team as any seasoned Associate. They're in the thick of it all, from hunting down deals to reviewing potential investments, and even keeping an eye on portfolio companies. While an Associate working on a deal will build an entire financial model, an Analyst help with specific tasks alongside that. That could be call duty, data combing, and assisting with certain research and paperwork. Age: fresh university graduates, usually aged 22-25. Salary + Bonus: Your wallet might feel a bit lighter as a PE Analyst compared to an IB Analyst. Expect the ballpark of EUR70,000 - EUR120,000. Carry: unlikely. Promotion: Buckle up for a 2-3 year ride to Associate, assuming your firm even promotes Analysts. And, trust me, that's a big 'if'. #CainMann #careeradvice #PE #Analyst

💼 Job Posting Hilarity: Why Join When You Can Do It All Yourself? So, I stumbled upon an interesting job vacancy for a Senior Investment Analyst at an investment bank. Sounds exciting, right? Well, here's the kicker: they're looking for candidates with a strong network as a pre-requisite. Why, you ask? Because they want you to bring in leads and investment opportunities, develop sales documents, create valuations and pitch decks, and even go on roadshows to sell and onboard investors to the new opportunity. 🤔 Let's break this down: 1. **Get Leads**: Use YOUR network to find potential deals. 2. **Do the Work**: Develop all the necessary documents and pitches. 3. **Sell**: Go out there, present, and close the deals. So, let me get this straight. If I'm supposed to use my connections to find deals, do all the legwork, and close the investment rounds, remind me again why I need to join this company? 🤔 Isn't it hilarious? Instead of sharing the revenue, I could simply start my own firm, do all the work, and keep 100% of the profits. 💸 Dear companies, here's a thought: How about you bring something valuable to the table? Like, I don't know, resources, mentorship, or even a platform that makes all this effort worthwhile? Until then, I'll be busy considering how to best leverage my network...for myself. 😉

After working with thousands of leaders trying to break into private equity-backed companies, here are the biggest barriers to entry for my clients ⬇️ ▶ Not Understanding Private Equity: Many talented people don't grasp how private equity works. It's not just about having skills; you need to know the ins and outs of private equity, what drives it, and how it operates. Understanding private equity is the first step, and it's not as complicated as it seems with the right guidance. ▶ Difficulty Finding PE-backed Job Opportunities: There’s no central forum for PE-backed jobs, especially when you are talking about C-Level or even VP-Level roles. It’s quite difficult to find out when private equity firms or their portfolio companies are hiring. Figuring out how to get direct access to this market is key. ▶ Packaging Themselves for Private Equity: Crafting a resume and cover letter for private equity requires knowing what private equity firms want. Even if you've worked in private equity before, you might not know exactly what they're looking for in certain roles or industries. Having insider knowledge helps tailor your presentation. Getting into private equity is easier when you have a guide to take you through the process step by step. Curious about how to land your next role in Private Equity?
