Interesting to see #TheTaxInstitute recommending property taxes as a viable option to address the housing affordability issue. NSW toyed with the idea of replacing stamp duties and land tax with an annual property tax but the proposal didn’t get up. Still worthy of consideration. #Housing #Taxes #Property

Ontario taxpayers continue to await notice of when the province will reassess, and while property assessments may not align with today’s market values, tax rates are continuing to increase. Opportunities to reduce property tax include municipal tax rebate applications for properties under renovation, as well as reconsideration requests or appeals. Now is the time to make the most of opportunities to reduce taxes, as well as to prepare for changes that may be coming. FACT - You can object to your land tax assessment within 60 days of getting the assessment notice 😮 If you have an investment in VIC and you've been slapped with a nasty land tax assessment thats left you wondering do I keep or do I sell, you don't have to accept that assessment of land tax on face value.
