As the holidays approach, Mubadala Energy and Harbour Energy have kept us #Indonesia #exploration watchers busy with their Layaran-1 well on the South Andaman block. Initial results indicate ‘excellent quality’ gas and condensate in a large structure with in-place volumes of over 6tcf. The find closely follows Eni’s Geng North discovery - might offshore North Sumatra eventually match up to the success of the Kutei basin off East Kalimantan? We think the potential is there. In fact, Indonesia’s deepwater success this year puts it ahead of #Guyana, #Namibia and #Malaysia in terms of 2023 discovered volumes. Indonesia plans to offer three geothermal areas for preliminary survey and exploration and two geothermal work areas for tender in 2025. The three areas for preliminary survey and exploration with their approximate capacity values are: ·      Gunung Lawu (195 MW) – East and Central Java ·      Sipoholon Ria-ria (35 MW) – North-central Sumatra ·      Cubadak-Panti (30 MW) – West Sumatra The two regular geothermal work areas are: ·      Telaga Ranu (85 MW) – North Maluku ·      Wapsalit (46 MW) – Buru Island The above information is adapted from various sources including ThinkGeoEnergy. 🌀 W.E.T.E.R + 💧 V.O.D.A - The start of consultations between PT Petrogas Jatim Utama and WETER LLC for cooperation in the implementation of innovative energy technologies in Indonesia   PT Petrogas Jatim Utama operates business units dealing with natural resources of oil and gas, energy and renewable energy, mineral resources and business management in state ports, as well as other ancillary services and activities (website - https://www.petrogas. co. identity document).   In order to determine the mutual interests and their implementation, PT Petrogas Jatim Utama and WETER LLC held a meeting of the parties on April 25, 2024 at the office of PT Petrogas Jatim Utama. At the business meeting, the side of WETER LLC was represented by the executive director D. Tyaglin.   During the meeting, the head of WETER LLC proposed for consideration a combined energy facility, namely a wind energy complex with the integration into its design of hydroelectric plants embedded in the building structures. Based on the terms of use and the calculated indicators of the combined energy object, preliminary competences and conditions for cooperation between the parties were determined, and a protocol was drawn up and signed by the parties.   At the end of the meeting, representatives of PT Petrogas Jatim Utama gave D.Tiaglin a familiarization tour of the plot where a combined energy facility is planned to be built. Here are the new oil fields that will come on stream by 2028 in Indonesia, according to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif. ·      The Forel field of Medco. Located in the South Natuna Sea B block, it is expected to produce 10,000 BOPD at the end of 2024. ·      The Singa Luat Kuda field of Harbour Energy. The field is expected to produce 20,000 BOPD at the end of 2026. ·      The OO-OX field of Pertamina Hulu Energy. Located in the  Offshore North West Java block the field is expected to produce 3000 BOPD starting at the end of 2026. ·      The Banyu Urip Infill Clastic (BUIC) project within the Cepu Block in East Java. This Banyu Urip further field development of ExxonMobil is expected to produce 19000 BOPD by the end of 2024. ·      The Hidayah field in North Madura. Petronas plans to begin production at 25,000 BOPD in Q1 2027. ·      The  Ande-Ande Lumut field of  Prima Energy in NW Natuna. The field is expected to start production in Q1 2028 at 20,000 BOPD. Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) is delving into the natural hydrogen potential in eastern Indonesia. This pioneering initiative is being carried out in close collaboration with esteemed partners, including the Faculty of Exploration and Production Technology, Pertamina University, the Geological Survey Center, and the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM). PHE has initiated the G&G study of the potential for natural hydrogen, also known as geologic hydrogen, in East Sulawesi Ophiolite. This study, kickstarted through a meeting held in Bandung (05/06), is driven by the company’s proactive preparation for clean energy exploration. The latest research from the Geological Survey Center (PSG) in the East Sulawesi Opholite area has successfully identified the presence of geologic hydrogen through the Tanjung Api seepage gas and the Bahodopi Hot Spring in the Matano Fault route, further fueling our optimism about the potential of this clean energy source.
