Great to see site progress at KIER Construction’s Sunderland Eye Hospital. We particularly like frame contractor Moortown Group Limited’s photo showing RVK telescopic connectors in the background, cast into precast stair landings by RIGHTCAST LIMITED. RVK connectors are used throughout to provide the hidden means of support for precast stair landings off core walls. On this project, the stair flights are wide and long whilst the landings are quite small, so pairs of RVK 101 connectors accommodate the high live load of 5kN per m2. At the rear, single RVK units support landings off 3 core walls in a more conventional layout. Our long-standing, valued customer, Moortown, choose telescopic connectors for their projects, because compared to steel angles, they’re quicker, accurate and more cost-effective. #Precast #Concrete #UKConstruction #SpeedSafetyStrength
A stairway to heaven can be seen at Sunderland Eye Hospital with Kier Construction. Works are progressing well with a hive of activity in recent weeks, with a stunning backdrop of colours at sunset. The concrete staircases are being lifted into position into Cores 1 and 2 providing full access and egress to all levels. Level 4 has already seen pour 1 and 2 completed, with pour 3 and 4 soon to follow. The formation of this eye hospital is no optical illusion! South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
