The landscape in Hong Kong presents its own set of challenges for professionals in the sports industry. While Sports Therapists have been established for over a decade in HK, Athletic Trainers are set to enter the market in as little as 2 years. The key challenge lies not only in how these two similar professionals originated from the UK and US can collaborate effectively but also in how they can collectively enhance elite sports performance and contribute to the growth of the sports industry in Hong Kong. https://lnkd.in/gtzPqQYM

We are enthusiastic to announce the upcoming 22nd #IAGP International Congress, which will take place in beautiful Sapporo, #Japan, from August 20-23, 2025. Please mark your calendars and save the date for this prestigious event! Creating the congress visual identity, we confirmed the update of the title: Groups and Global Crises: Challenges for People, Organizations, and Societies. The designer worked on the Kintsugi concept – the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, where the repair is treated as part of the history of an object rather than something to disguise. In the words of Roberta Mineo, co-chair of the Scientific Committee, kintsugi shows the fragility of our world and the need for personal and societal responsibility to hold it together and heal it. This is what our Congress should be about: not disguising the damages, not denying the traumas, but engaging collectively to analyze those wounds and repair them, to restore a world that can be more precious than what we found. After 50 years of IAGP, let us envision a future where we unite in a collective effort to heal our world and humanity Why Attend? * Inspiring Keynotes, Symposia, Workshops and much more: Learn from renowned experts in the field of group psychotherapy, group processes, and related areas. * Networking Opportunities: Connect with colleagues from around the globe, share your experiences, and build lasting relationships. Stay informed: Keep up with the latest research, innovations, and best practices in our field. * Cultural Experience: Enjoy the rich culture and scenic beauty of Sapporo, offering a unique blend of modernity and tradition. * Professional Growth: Enhance your professional skills and knowledge. The IAGP International Congress is more than just a conference; it's a global gathering of professionals dedicated to advancing our profession and making meaningful contributions to society. We value opportunities to provide learning experiences for the new generation of group workers. Your participation is crucial to the success of this event, and we look forward to your valuable presence. Stay tuned for more details and the official registration opening. In the meantime, please save the date and start planning your trip to Sapporo! Warm regards, Heloisa Fleury, President International Association for Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP) on behalf of the Congress Organizing Committee #IAGP #GroupTherapy #GroupProcesses #GroupPscychotherapy #Psychodrama

Citius. Altius. Fortius. Only a few days left before the Paris Olympics begins. In Hungary the Olympics is more than just a 3 weeks of a sports festival. It's a national cause. It is genuinly part of 🇭🇺 national identity 🇭🇺 Being a small country of 10 million people we are (literally each and every one of us, even those who never got up from the couch) are super proud of those 187 gold medals 🥇 that puts this tiny country to the 8th most decorated nation position in Summer Olympics history. Funny enough - well, it's not funny really - Hungary is one of the least healthy nations in the EU 🩺 cardiovascular diseases 🩺 smoking, alcohol consumption 🩺 cancer 🩺 overall life expectancy How can a country be so successful in sports, be proud of it and at the same time producing the such bad overall health figures? I found an interesting scientific paper that discusses the Effect of sports health and exercise research on Olympic game success: An analytical and correlational survey (by Sahin and Senduran, 2020) Hungary actually ranked the lowest (%) in the world based on number of publications in the Journal of Sports Medicine compared to the medals won 2010-2018. Only 1 publication. The study found a strong correlation in number of accepted scientific publications in the topics of sports injury, education, exercise for health, nutrition and the number of medals won. Well. Hungary being the exception. Probably time to fund science as much as top sports achievements? What's the moral of the story for you?
