Awesome news - CLO recently passed yet another audit, with flying colours! Our Child and Youth Services division had robustly positive results in its very first quality assessment conducted by ASES (Australian Service Excellence Standards), a national certification body that evaluates the performance and impact of community organisations. According to the Lead Auditor, Community Living Options is a mature, fearless, and innovative organisation (and we can’t express how humbled we are by this compliment!) 😍 As stated in the auditing feedback, we were also perceived as having: ✅ A supportive environment for growth ✅ A healthy and transparent culture with simple, direct communication ✅ Clear succession planning with exceptional leadership and board ✅ Clarity of purpose, where CLO’s Youth workers strongly understand our mission ✅ Impressive embedding of risk and quality across all levels ✅ Outstanding integration of human rights in our processes ✅ A genuine culture of quality and transparency. Those results were only possible because our Child and Youth Services was able to tap into CLO's 40+ years of experience in the disability sector, building and testing evidence-based frameworks to provide excellence in person-centred support services. A round of applause to our dedicated CYS people, who are the driving motor behind those impressive outcomes. Their daily hard work and unwavering commitment to supporting children and young people create an impact beyond words. Go Team CLO! 🙌 #ChildAndYouthServices #YouthWorkers #AuditSuccess #TeamWork #CommunityLivingOptions

The team at Procure Impact continually demonstrates how business decisions that promote equity in the workplace can positively impact a company's bottom line. Thank you, Jennifer Collins and Lauren McCann, for driving support for businesses run by individuals from marginalized communities who have experienced barriers to work. We all have the power to create a more just future. We can make everyday business decisions on default and allow history to repeat itself, or we can decide to deconstruct and rebuild our systems to promote a triple bottom line (planet, people, profit). Prioritizing minimizing extraction from and maximizing return to environmental and social welfare boasts a positive long-term return on investment. While hot (pun intended) energy-intensive technology like AI takes the main stage, it's more important than ever to consider what needs to be broken down and rebuilt to support our long-term survival. We have the opportunity to build solutions that promote a thriving planet with thriving people - why waste it? #ESG #sustainability #responsiblebusiness #socialimpact #triplebottomline #climate #SDGs #responsiblesourcing #DEI

We are worried. Germany's announcement to abstain from voting on the #CSDDD on February 9 has brought the process to a halt, causing other Member States to waver in their positions. As Minerva, we join voices with others to express our concern about this situation triggered by false allegations on the substance of the #CSDDD, and we support the statement co-signed by BHR practitioners, lawyers and scholars around the world in shedding some light on what the #CSDDD actually entails. We’d like to emphasize that, despite allegations to the contrary: • CSDDD provides legal certainty for businesses, clearly defining expectations under the human rights and sustainability due diligence, • It provides only measurable and fair requirements to businesses, refraining from overwhelming the SMEs, • It harmonizes fragmented practices, • In doing so, it levels the playing field for human rights and sustainability due diligence, • It ensures fair competition in the international arena by providing standards and balancing costs for doing business, and finally, • It brings a chance to improve the living and working conditions of people in developing and less developed countries through a cross-border approach. Based on these factors, we sincerely hope that February 9, 2024 will turn out to be a victory for a sustainable future for us all. For the complete text of the statement, please visit https://lnkd.in/exnf2EYi #CSDDD #Sustainability #CorporateResponsibility #bizhumanrights

🌍 Call to Action to Support the #CSDDD Directive 🌍 The #CSDDD needs our support more than ever. The EU Council vote this Friday on the #CSDDD is more than a mere legislative formality - it's a defining moment for our collective future and a more responsible and sustainable business world. It's essential that we, as a professional community, voice our support for the #CSDDD. To this end, we are spearheading a public statement in support of the #CSDDD we drafted together with Céline da Graça Pires, Daniel Schönfelder, Lisa Szeponik and Stéphane Brabant, rallying BHR practitioners, academics around the world to endorse this pivotal initiative. Over 100 #bizhumanrights practitioners and academics signed the letter in the last 12 hours. If you are a BHR professional and want to join us in this critical initiative by adding your name under this letter, please contact me, Celina, Lisa, or Daniel with your name and affiliation. We are calling on all the European governments to acknowledge the significance of the vote on February 9th and collaborate to ensure the CSDDD's success. It is time for decisive action to ensure businesses contribute positively to our society and planet and align business and human rights for good. Let's unite our voices to ensure the #CSDDD receives the backing it deserves. This week's vote has the power to shape the future for generations to come. Let's make sure it counts for the better. Support the #CSDDD. #CSDDD #Sustainability #CorporateResponsibility #SustainableFuture #bizhumanrights

As the MMC for Safety in Tshwane and FF Plus Caucus leader, I am compelled to address the recent statements made by the EFF regarding Cllr Obakeng Ramabodu's inflammatory remarks. The comments made by Cllr Ramabodu, where he expressed a desire for "Afrikaner blood," are deeply troubling and cannot be excused under any circumstances, even amidst provocation. The EFF now claims that their statements were provoked by Councillor Mark Surgeon and made out of rage and anger. However, this defence is unacceptable for two key reasons: 1. Setting a Dangerous Precedent: If we turn a blind eye to such behaviour and fail to address it, it sets a dangerous precedent, effectively normalizing such unacceptable conduct in public discourse. It is imperative to take a stand against this to maintain a standard of decorum and respect in our council. 2. Unjustifiable Actions: Committing serious offences out of rage and anger cannot be excused. In any legal or societal framework, actions taken in anger, especially those inciting violence and hate, are not justified. The EFF's excuse lacks reasonableness and responsibility. These words were not mere outbursts; they were deliberate and thought-through statements. This is not the first instance where Cllr Obakeng Ramabodu has directed such insults and remarks, particularly towards the FF Plus. The FF Plus has already taken steps by filing a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) for hate speech. Maintaining the highest standards of decorum and professionalism is essential, especially in political discourse. Our society is built on the principles of respect, unity, and constructive dialogue, values that seem to be disregarded by the EFF in this instance. We cannot ignore the implications of such statements which incite violence and racial hatred. The remarks made by Cllr Ramabodu not only threaten the safety and security of our community but also undermine efforts to foster a cohesive and inclusive society. The FF Plus remains committed to rebuilding South Africa and standing against those who seek to sow discord and destruction. Furthermore, it is disheartening to see the EFF attempt to divert attention from the real issues at hand by attacking the character of others and making baseless accusations. All political leaders must focus on addressing the pressing challenges facing our city, such as deteriorating infrastructure and community welfare, rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric. We call for respectful and constructive dialogue to move Tshwane forward and build a better future for all its residents. The actions of the EFF, as demonstrated in their recent conduct, clearly show a departure from these values. We would like to encourage all council members to engage in a manner that promotes peace, stability, and progress for the greater good of our city.
