The impact of sleep apnoea is a significant concern for the rail industry. Population data suggests we are missing many cases at occupational fitness assessments. A multi factorial approach to screening is useful but can lead to a lack of clear criteria for fitness outcomes

Great to see this very important issue is topical again. Remembering the Selby rail crash. The driver of the car, Gary Hart, was convicted of ten counts of causing death by dangerous driving and sentenced to five years in prison after a jury found that he had fallen asleep while driving.
