Quino Energy is excited to announce that our 10 kW/100 kWh prototype is now operational! This milestone builds on our recent successes with one 6 kW/24 kWh system and two 1.5 kW/6 kWh systems. Together, these prototypes - using hardware from two different vanadium flow battery OEMs - demonstrate the commercial viability of our technology. Our innovative water-based system works universally with vanadium-based systems, requiring minimal reengineering to lock in the longer lifetime, more secure supply chain, and lower costs that our tech provides. We're heartened by our rapid progress towards our mission to replace vanadium as the dominant flow battery chemistry. We believe our quinone battery material is the missing ingredient needed for the economical, secure, safe medium-duration storage that the energy transition needs. Learn more about our recent progress, the 100 kWh prototype, and our focus on field testing and commercializing this technology in our latest press release and during the upcoming IFBF - International Flow Battery Forum. We're excited to extend our reach to international audiences! #flowbatteries #batterytechnology #energystorage https://lnkd.in/e8Q3bzpz

CHFCA member Ballard Power Systems says it plans to invest about $160 million through 2027 to build a new manufacturing facility (gigafactory) in Rockwall as part of the project's first phase. Ballard announced this week that the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) notified it that its applications for two grants totaling $40 million to support the facility's construction were selected and recommended for negotiation of a financial award. The new facility, dubbed Rockwall Giga 1, will be on 22 acres of industrial land within the Rockwall Technology Park. The facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of 8 million membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), 8 million bipolar plates, 20,000 fuel cell stacks, and up to 20,000 fuel cell engines per year, or the equivalent of 3 gigawatts of fuel cells, according to a news release. #hydrogen #hydrogenenergy #hydrogenindustry #hydrogenfuelcell #hydrogeneconomy #netzero #decarbonization https://lnkd.in/eCkEz55u

Amprius Technologies, Inc., a prominent player in next-gen lithium-ion batteries, has unveiled its latest SiCore product platform. This expansion of its product portfolio includes industry-leading silicon anode batteries aimed at transforming electric mobility. Amprius has also rebranded its existing silicon nanowire platform, SiMaxx, offering products with up to 500 Wh/kg and 1,300 Wh/L energy density. SiCore batteries feature an innovative, proprietary silicon anode material system that delivers high-energy-density silicon anode batteries, surpassing current graphite cell performance. The new silicon anode cell chemistry promises high energy density of up to 400 Wh/kg and a long cycle life of up to 1,200 cycles at full depth of discharge. Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies, expressed optimism about SiCore's potential impact on electric mobility, citing the projected $100 billion growth in the global battery market for electric mobility by 2025. SiCore is expected to address this growing market by providing a drop-in solution for silicon anode adoption in various applications. Amprius collaborated with Berzelius Corp (Nanjing) Ltd. in developing SiCore, and the battery's performance has been validated across electric mobility applications. Initial samples have received positive feedback from customers, leading to forecasts of demand exceeding 100 megawatt hours (MWh) in the coming years. Exclusive rights to use silicon anode materials have been secured through an agreement with partner Berzelius, covering the United States, Canada, and Mexico. SiCore batteries are currently manufactured by toll manufacturing partners, serving as a capacity bridge until Amprius' gigawatt-scale facility in Colorado becomes operational. Amprius plans to deliver MWh-scale quantities of SiCore products in various form factors in 2024, including pouch, large form factor (up to 100 Ah), and cylindrical cells. The company anticipates producing both SiCore and SiMaxx batteries at its Colorado gigawatt-scale factory. #avfoilnews #aviation #batterystorage #batterytechnology #batterysolutions
