We love to talk about clinical impact and patient outcome. Today, let me introduce you to a clinical area where #photoncounting CT, provides neither - because the patient (or rather the subject) is already dead: Forensic medicine. Dominic Gascho from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland just published a paper investigating what benefits #photoncounting CT can offer for forensic studies. In a field, where dose efficiency and contrast media usage have no relevance it comes down to pure image quality. https://lnkd.in/d3VWch-G

This study investigates the feasibility of using QFR in Heart Team discussions for determining optimal revascularization strategies in patients with MVD. It found substantial agreement between the QFR and FFR methods, suggesting that QFR is a viable non-invasive alternative to FFR. This could simplify the decision-making process in clinical settings by reducing reliance on invasive FFR measurements and potentially speeding up procedural times.
