Enjoy full text (for next few weeks) of our new article examining associations between crime-related concerns (e.g., fear, incivilities, etc.), protective factors (neighborhood integration, etc.), and walking for recreation. We also examine differences in associations between the theorized deterrent and promotive factors and walking when done inside one's home neighborhood versus outside it. This article has been a long time coming - we first rigorously developed and tested/validated measures, then, a few years later, ran the analyses in this first test of the conceptual model. The conceptual model is discussed here and in other papers. Present results, which show differences in correlates for walking inside versus outside one's neighborhood, may help explain prior inconsistent evidence about crime in relation to physical activity. Also, protective behaviors highly relevant, including newly-studied construct (in the context of physical activity) "street efficacy." Lots to digest and build on.  https://lnkd.in/eVdXCeWD

As most of you know, I appraise income producing housing with a specialty in affordable housing. I'm fortunate to be able to work in this specialty practice in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. Most of us are aware of the national programs - LIHTC, HOME, Section 8 - but each state, many counties and even cities have their own programs designed to address the unique housing issues that impact their communities. I've decided to learn about these various programs, and I will post what I learn here so we can all share the knowledge. I want this forum to be a place where we can share our experiences with these programs.
