Rambling thoughts of a Science Teacher: I was prepared to use the tag "Beware, long post ahead" only to have the system inform me I have exceeded by 2273 words🤣. So here's the summary: As part of our Budding STEM curriculum, I recently carried out a series of lessons inspired by The Little Match Girl to teach primary students empathy through science. Using storytelling to set the context, students learned about heat transfer and insulation before designing insulated cup sleeves to keep hot chocolate warm—imagining this comfort for the story's character. This hands-on project encouraged them to experiment, record findings, and refine their designs while understanding real-world STEM applications to help those in need. The students demonstrated inventive thinking, taking initiative and showing adaptability even when resources were limited. Their engagement and empathy throughout the process were truly inspiring! #STEM #STEMFORKIDs #STEMeducation #STEMlearning You may be interested to read a more detailed description of the lessons at the following links: post 1: https://shorturl.at/VbPu3 post 2: https://shorturl.at/6t3xk
