I-PASS Patient Safety Institute’s Post

📣 A new I-PASS study has been published! I-PASS took part in a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)-funded research study that examined the impact of implementing a novel parent-nurse-physician Mentor-Trio in 21 hospitals on adherence to core components of the Patient and Family-Centered (PFC) I-PASS Program. The PFC I-PASS program emphasizes family and nurse engagement and structured communication with the aim of reducing serious adverse events that can give rise to patient harm or death. Post-Implementation Results: • Adherence to all I-PASS components improved by up to 60% post-implementation • Resident-reported harms/1000-resident-days decreased in larger hospitals, those with higher levels of I-PASS process adherence, and those with higher levels of nurse engagement • 12/12 measures of staff safety climate improved Learn more: https://bit.ly/3OaoPbz #patientsafety #pediatrics #communication #healthcare
