Check out our PD Detector in action uncovering flaws in Air Insulated Switchgear! 🔍⚡ Ultrasonic energy caused by surface discharge on cable terminations in AIS can be difficult to detect from outside the switchgear. Sometimes the sound can be detected at the gaps between metal panels, in this case, there happens to be a bolt missing from one of the panels, and by holding the detector up against the hole it can be seen that the internal surface discharge is clearly detected. The P52000 VPD detects voltages to 4200 V AC/DC, making it a great candidate for high voltage presence applications. Across many industries, it is often necessary to confirm the presence of voltage in a particular system. This is especially critical in high voltage situations. This can mean confirmation of a minimum voltage threshold for proper operation… like what is necessary to run rail transit systems (750 – 1500 V DC). Conversely, it could apply to verification of the absence of voltage… like ensuring safety with access to high voltage panels or electric vehicle test cells, (which are now seeing applications exceeding 1000 V DC.)   #highvoltage #electricvehicle #testandmeasurement #railtransit #sensor

Cable anchoring ⚡ After mounting the sensor, the cable should be anchored to reduce stress at the cable terminations and to prevent false signals due to cable vibration and slapping. When securing the cable, leave enough slack to allow free movement of the accelerometer.
