This study investigates the monocyte-to-lymphocyte multiplying platelets ratio (MLPR) as a novel inflammatory marker for predicting acute kidney injury (AKI) after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Through analysis of 2387 patients, the study found that both MLPR and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) were significant risk factors for AKI. #AcuteKidneyInjury #CardiacSurgery #Cardiopulmonarybypass #Monocyte

Much work remains to be done in identifying the optimal approach to multimodal treatment for obesity. Our latest work begins to scratch the surface on this concept, investigating the safety of GLP-1 receptor agonists in patients with a history of bariatric surgery. Still, many questions remain including optimal timing, identification of patients who should receive such treatment, and optimal clinical targets for this approach. https://lnkd.in/gkqRfqCE

This study explores the role of the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII), derived from platelet, neutrophil, and lymphocyte counts, as a predictor of in-hospital mortality for patients undergoing on-pump cardiac surgery. Analyzing data from 480 patients, it was found that a higher preoperative SII is independently associated with an increased risk of mortality. #CardiacSurgery #InHospitalMortality #OnPump #PrognosticTool #SystemicImmuneInflammationIndex

This study assesses the relationship between intraoperative blood salvage and coagulation disorders following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), using conventional coagulation tests and thromboelastography (TEG). Enrolling 92 patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery with CPB, it explored coagulation function in scenarios with and without cell salvage blood transfusion. Despite 57.6% #CardiacSurgery #CellSalvage #CoagulationDisorder #Thromboelastography
