Dealing with a chronically tight adductor? Sometimes this is just guarding from an entrapped obturator nerve. The nerve can get sandwiched between the adductor longus and adductor brevis muscles. In clinic, I use Active Release Techniques to specifically target the area of nerve entrapment. For at home, foam rolling the adductors can help. Here's a video on it. https://www.rfr.bz/llc7q0d #tightadductors #nerveentrapment

#VeressTipTuesday: Do you carry a decompression needle in your kit? This is a demo of the PneumoFix-8, a veress-tipped decompression needle, captured by a fiber optic camera in the thoracic cavity of cadaver. You can see within the first few seconds the sharp point of the needle enter the thoracic cavity & then once in the pleural space, the blunt veress tip activate to cover the needle point. The blunt veress tip is crucially important in preventing penetration & possible deflation of the lung as shown here when attempting to puncture the lung. The veress tip is also important in a trauma scenario when a quick needle decompression is needed to treat or prevent a tension pneumothorax. Check back later for Part 2 of #VeressTipTuesday... #medicaltraining #traumamedicine #needledecompression #tensionpneumothorax Shop veress-tipped decompression needles here- https://lnkd.in/eE7qAQdx

Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint Injuries Let’s talk AC joint injuries, commonly called shoulder separations. The AC joint is formed by the acromion and the clavicle which are held together by strong ligaments. . Due to its location, the AC joint is vulnerable to injury from trauma such as a direct blow to the shoulder or fall onto the shoulder. . There are 6 types of AC joint injuries, with type I being the less severe. Type I: sprain or partial tear of the AC ligaments, no injury to the coracoclavicular (CC) ligaments. Type II: complete tear of the AC ligaments, sprain or partial tear of the CC ligaments Type III: complete tear of both AC and CC ligaments with displacement of the clavicle. Type IV, V, VI: most severe and will likely require surgical intervention. . In upcoming posts we'll cover some treatment ideas. .
