LRF Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk’s Post

The main driver of our partnership with Diabetes Singapore is to explore the role of growth mindsets and how it can positively impact the lives of individuals with #Type2Diabetes. But what exactly is a growth mindset and how can it help?   A #growthmindset empowers individuals to embrace challenges and believe in the possibility of improvement. In the case of people with Type 2 diabetes, there are several benefits that they could experience with effort and persistence such as enhancing their self-efficacy and resilience, overcoming setbacks and psychological barriers, as well as reducing their overall blood glucose levels.   DiabetesSG and the Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk are working together to understand people’s attitudes and perceptions towards growth mindsets, and how they can be applied to help those managing the disease. These findings will be presented at an event in November as part of World Diabetes Day.   For more information, IPUR published a study to understand how growth mindsets and self-efficacy beliefs impact and influence individuals with Type 2 diabetes.
