The main driver of our partnership with Diabetes Singapore is to explore the role of growth mindsets and how it can positively impact the lives of individuals with #Type2Diabetes. But what exactly is a growth mindset and how can it help? A #growthmindset empowers individuals to embrace challenges and believe in the possibility of improvement. In the case of people with Type 2 diabetes, there are several benefits that they could experience with effort and persistence such as enhancing their self-efficacy and resilience, overcoming setbacks and psychological barriers, as well as reducing their overall blood glucose levels. DiabetesSG and the Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk are working together to understand people’s attitudes and perceptions towards growth mindsets, and how they can be applied to help those managing the disease. These findings will be presented at an event in November as part of World Diabetes Day. For more information, IPUR published a study to understand how growth mindsets and self-efficacy beliefs impact and influence individuals with Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Care Secrets🩸 📚 HbA1c Test Problems Today, we're diving into the world of diabetes care and exploring the impact of Hemoglobin A1c, or HbA1c. In six studies - Veteran, European, Trace, Accord, Advanced, and 2nd Veteran - HbA1c has shown some concerning effects. In a study published in Trans Am Clin Climatol Assoc in 2015, the researchers shed light on the glycemic targets in diabetes care, bringing forth crucial findings. The HbA1c levels, which reflect average blood sugar over time, have been linked to harmful outcomes. These studies collectively highlight the need for caution. But fear not, there's a silver lining. By closely monitoring and managing blood sugar levels, you can take control of your health. So, what should you do? Regular daily check-up I find is better. Also remember, shedding those extra pounds can help cure type 2 diabetes. 🩸 To achieve this, create a fiber-packed menu: Aim for 30 grams daily for women and 50 grams for men. 🥦🍎🥑 Prioritize whole grains, fruits, and veggies to boost fiber intake #DiabetesCare #HbA1cImpact #GlycemicTargets #HealthResearch #BloodSugarManagement #ScientificStudies #DiabetesPrevention #HealthAwareness #MedicalScience #WellnessTips

#Diabetes care was my main responsibility, among other noncommunicable diseases’ treatments, when I was with Eli Lilly and Company in Singapore and Vietnam. 🧐Did you know: Type 2 diabetes is largely #preventable and, in some cases, potentially reversible if identified and managed early in the disease course?! Yet, 💥 diabetes has no longer been the rich nations’ diseases for the last decades, 💥#Asians have a higher #risk of developing diabetes due to genetic defects affecting insulin secretory function and β-cell mass than Caucasians, (PMC4595349) 💥type 2 diabetes accounts for >98% of diabetes cases globally, 💥 high BMI and #obesity are some of the main root causes of type 2 diabetes which accounts for over 50% of global disability-adjusted life-years, and 💥the #overweight and obesity global wave has transited from the wealthy to the low- and middle-income countries due to a survey of household data from 103 countries? (PMC6880978) 🚨More than 1.3bn adults will have diabetes by 2050, more than double of 529m in 2021, with rises in every country and across every age group, #findings from a Lancet study show. 🚨The #data is alarming. Diabetes was outpacing most diseases globally to remains one of the biggest #publichealth threats of our time and coming decades. And the global inequity in diabetes has been widening. 🚨Diabetes prevalence is increasing worldwide, primarily due to a rise in obesity caused by multiple factors. The Social determinants of health (SDoH) including - public #awareness and policy, - #economic development, - #access to high-quality care, - #innovations in diabetes management, and - sociocultural #norms can impact diabetes outcomes negatively for marginalised and minority ethnic #populations globally. 🚨People from these groups are less likely to have access to essential medicines such as insulin, sufficient and healthy food and healthcare services, nor choices of where to live, have worse blood sugar control, and a lower quality of life and reduced life expectancy. 🌏What are the best ways to #prevent diabetes knowing the determinants and trajectory do you think?
