At iQ, we've kicked off the New Year putting our best feet forward with our Jump into January Step Challenge.
Across the month of January, iQers have teamed up to compete for the title of iQ’s Top Steppers. So far, the 36 teams and 167 iQers have done over 27 million steps and covered over 11,000 miles.
It’s been great to see iQers getting out and about (rain or shine) across the UK and sharing pics of some of their stepping locations.
Rebekah Thompson shared “Jump into January has been a great motivator for getting back into exercise in the chilly winter months post the festive period. As a team, we’ve really enjoyed making time for lunch time walks and finding creative ways to get in extra steps!”

Drumming brings an energy to the team that is hard to find in other team building activities..why?
🥁 It’s fun and your team will enjoy sharing a positive experience together.
🥁By working towards a common goal – in music just like in your organisation, individuals will be adding value towards the whole.
🥁The experience stimulates real-world dynamics by working together in harmony.
🥁DTB flattens the hierarchy, helping communication and connection - levelling the playing field.
🥁DTB is different from other forms of team building, fostering collaboration and cooperation over competition.

What if every time you went to a practice or a competition, you knew it was a place where you could truly thrive?
The concept of "safe participation" goes beyond the familiar idea of "safe sport." It considers four key types of safety—physical, emotional, psychological, and cultural—so everyone can feel protected, valued, and included.
This approach comes from the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity, and Recreation Council (ISPARC), whose insights we deeply appreciate.
Over the next four weeks, we'll explore each type of safety and share practical steps to make safe participation a reality.
Together, we can create a better way to play. To learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/gWUZRhQr#SafeParticipation#InclusiveSport#PhysicalSafety#EmotionalSafety#PsychologicalSafety#CulturalSafety#ABetterWayToPlay#ISPARC

Over the last two days, I’ve had the opportunity to understand my own strengths and how I can use them to achieve my goals.
As someone who always focuses on my development areas, ignoring my strengths as I feel uncomfortable naming them or talking about them, my Strengthscope report has been a lightbulb moment for me. I’ve realised that often my development areas are simply my strengths in overdrive and that I have a range of other strengths to help me dial down when some strengths go into overdrive. I’m now really happy to name them and think about how what’s naturally in me can help me succeed.
It’s also really helped me to reframe how I see my own development. From this point onwards, I will be focusing 80% of my time on maximising my strengths and 20% on managing my performance risks.
Plus as a Strengthscope practitioner, I will be able to help others with understanding how they can fulfil their own potential through using their natural strengths and energisers.
If you have never looked into strength based development then I would encourage you to do so as I know that the last two days have been game changing for me…
Thank you Paul M. for bringing me on the Strengthscope journey.
Many thanks to NACDA for sharing this article today. As athletic administrators we need to keep an eye on our staff. Yes, we are tasked with ensuring our student-athletes are having a quality experience, but the other important aspect of our job is to make certain our coaches, athletic trainers, and other athletic staff feel valued and their voices are heard. This article gives several good tips if you sense things are headed in the wrong direction. A great piece by Rebecca Knight in the Harvard Business Review.
