A new unique project in the world of engineering which is going to be built for the first time in this world. This is a floating tunnels project that will be built inside Norway. The main goal of the project is to reduce the travel time between two cities within Norway. Because geographically within Norway there are deep ravines and high mountains, it is a very expensive and difficult task to cut through them and build a road through them. In such a case, these tunnels will be made under water, in which these tubes will be placed under water at a depth of 100 meters and then they will be pressed into the seabed with various cables and balanced or from above. will be attached to pontoons that will float on the surface of the water above. By doing this, they will not pose any threat to other marine traffic. With the construction of this tunnel, the distance between these two cities will be less than half. #Norway #Project #water

To all my transportation & tunnel infrastructure engineers, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one of a kind “floating Tunnel project” in Norway! Could this ever work in parts of North America? My brain hurts just thinking about engineering such a groundbreaking project. #worldsfirst #engineeringmarvel #tunnels #civilengineering

Norway is ready to construct the world's first floating underwater tunnel; it will be the first-of-its-kind engineering wonder that will link Kristiansand and Trondheim. The tunnel is going to be 27 kilometers long, thereby making it one of the longest and most innovative structures in the transportation system. This would mean that the tunnel is going to be constructed under the sea, 400 meters deep. It ensures vehicles would pass safely and smoothly and withstand all the challenging underwater conditions. It would be a massive investment worth $40 billion for the infrastructure. By 2050, it is planned to complete the tunnel. It's sure to revolutionize the way Norway transports people and also serve as a global example for advanced engineering and sustainability. . . . #UnderwaterTunnel #FloatingTunnel #Norway #Kristiansand #Trondheim #Innovation #Engineering #FutureOfTransport #Construction #Infrastructure #SustainableTransport #TransportationRevolution #AdvancedEngineering #GlobalEngineering #Tribunetrends

The world's first floating underwater tunnel will be built in northern Norway, connecting the cities of Kristiansand and Trondheim. This project will improve connectivity between different areas of the country. The project involves two concrete tubes connected to each other, which, thanks to a series of floating structures, will remain suspended in the water. In addition, they will be anchored in some places to the seabed with cables. Inside each of these tunnels there will be a two-lane highway, one for each direction of travel. There will also be dedicated lanes for bicycles. These tunnels will not interrupt the navigation of boats, as they will be immersed at a depth of about 30 meters. The total length will be about 1.2 kilometers. Thanks to projects of this type, Norway will be able to reduce its dependence on its ferry system, currently used to cross the fjords, significantly reducing travel times. The project is estimated to cost around $25 billion, and the Norwegian Road Administration expects the tunnel to be completed by 2035.

DIGGING DEEP: Plans for a purpose-built ship tunnel at the Stad Peninsula have taken a step forward. Engineering consultancy Cowi has been selected by the Norwegian Coastal Administration to act as technical advisor for the construction of the project. The tunnel – described as the first of its kind in the world – will cut through a mountain between two fjords on peninsula in western Norway. It will be 1.7km long, 50m tall and 36m wide, and allow ships to navigate through Stadhavet Sea, one of the most dangerous areas for shipping on the Norwegian cost. According to media reports, the value of the agreement is up to NOK150M (£11M), which includes an option for temporary staffing. The tunnel contract is scheduled to be tendered this year, with construction expected to start in 2025. Figures from 2021 have suggested the tunnel will cost a total NOK4.09bn (£306M). #maritime #marine #shipping #civilengineering #maritimeconsultancy

Tunnelling is crucial for modern infrastructure, enabling efficient transportation and utility management in crowded or difficult environments. It supports subways, highways, and railways beneath cities, reducing surface congestion and preserving space. Additionally, tunnels help transport water, sewage, and energy with minimal environmental impact, making urban areas more sustainable and resilient.
