Archives Of Baha'i Persecutions In Iran: This Archive, which records the persecution of Bahá’ís in #Iran has been established by the Bahá’í International Community in response to rising interest both internationally and within Iran to understand the depth and breadth of this persecution. The documents shed light on the decades-long, #systematic and ongoing #persecution of the Baha’is, instigated by the #clergy and by the #government . Although most of the documents on this website are related to the decades following the #IslamicRevolution in 1979, there are many that date back a long time before the revolution. #InternationArchiveDay #ArchivesOfBahaiPersecutions #BahaiInternationalCommunity #othering #WarAgainstBahais #bahaisofiran https://lnkd.in/eTwx8ZCR

The Non-Existing ‘Ancient Iran’: An Argument for the Abandonment of Anachronistic National Identities In this audio essay, I challenge the retrospective application of the term “Iran” to ancient civilizations and advocate for its abandonment in historical narratives. I trace the term’s evolution from its first mentions during the Ilkhanate era to its establishment under the Qajars, revealing how “Iran” has been anachronistically applied to a region characterized by a diverse tapestry of cultures, languages, and governance systems. I argue that the term “Ariya” or “Aryan,” the wrongly supposed etymological root of “Iran,” was originally used in a context devoid of nationalistic connotations, emphasizing the absence of a unified Iranian civilization throughout history. Through my analysis, I expose the modern construction of Iranian identity, which glosses over the rich ethnic, linguistic, and cultural diversity within the region. I call for a historical reassessment that recognizes the complexity of the region’s past, moving beyond nationalistic narratives. My aim is to promote a more inclusive and accurate representation of the area’s history, challenging the myth of a monolithic “ancient Iran” and advocating for a nuanced understanding of its diverse peoples and cultures. listen to this episode on Podbean.

at #Federation of Humanities and Social Science (Congress 2024), I will be talking about my forthcoming book "The Presidential Difference and Iran's Foreign Policy under Khatami (1997-2005)". The theoretical framework applied is the operational code (a quantitative method), which examines a leader's belief system through discourse and text analysis. Khatami’s presidency marked a period of relative openness and reform in Iran. His foreign policy focused on dialogue, improving relations with the West, and regional cooperation. Despite facing significant domestic and international challenges, Khatami’s efforts represented a notable shift towards moderation and engagement in Iran’s foreign policy landscape. #foreignpolicyanalysis, #discourseanalysis, #operationalcode

Special Adviser within the field of libraries and National Minorities and the Sami indigenous people. Desk Officer Research Collaboration Unit at Kungl. biblioteket/National Library of Sweden
The Iraqi Manuscripts: Their Reality, Institutions, and Challenges Ett i Sverige unikt tillfälle erbjuds att bekanta sig med Irakiska manuskript! Anmäl dig i Zoom länken! Dr. Faiza Adeeb Al Bayati will speak about the intervention that deals with the intellectual contents of Mesopotamian libraries, which are among the most famous libraries established during human history, It exposes the contents of the libraries and the science in which valuable books, manuscripts, and millions of volumes of were collected to operations of erasure in horrific ways throughout the ages. The grind of this cultural battle is still taking place today against Iraqi’s culture infrastructure par excellence. There is no doubt that with the advent of the American occupation in 2003, and the accompanying sabotage, looting, and burning of many of the collections and holdings of Iraqi libraries, that landmarks of human civilization carried by Iraq are being obliterated and the cost of preserving the materials are very harsh, but despite this, these institutions rise again. https://lnkd.in/gMJfvi7x
