In a landmark move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s position as a premier destination for oil and gas investments in Africa, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recently signed three executive orders. Drafted in close collaboration with key ministries and agencies including the Federal Ministry of Justice, Finance, Petroleum, Budget and Economic Planning, as well as regulatory bodies such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited,and Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, these policy reforms are set to redefine the trajectory of Nigeria's energy sector. Its main focus include: 1. Fiscal Incentives for Growth: This should be tailored to stimulate non-associated gas, midstream, and deepwater developments. These incentives are poised to catalyze investment flows, fostering a conducive environment for sustainable growth and innovation within the sector. 2. Contracting Process Optimization: This should recognize the critical need for expediency in project execution.It entails streamlining the contracting process to compress the cycle to a mere six months. This streamlined approach aims to enhance efficiency, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks and accelerating the pace of project implementation. 3. Local Content Integration: Emphasizing the importance of local participation, this should underscore the application of local content requirements without impeding investments or compromising cost competitiveness. While these executive orders mark a significant milestone in Nigeria's energy journey, it's crucial to recognize that directives alone are not sufficient. True progress lies in the effective IMPLEMENTATION of these policies on the ground. As stakeholders across the public and private sectors come together to translate these directives into tangible actions, it is imperative to maintain momentum, foster collaboration, and uphold accountability. Only through proactive and diligent implementation can we unlock the full potential of Nigeria's energy sector, paving the way for sustainable growth and resilience in the face of global challenges. President & CEO of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) Le Ngoc Son says extra efforts are needed to ensure the completion of the 2024 business plan, promote growth and development goals, and contribute to the country’s socio-economic development. In his directive on key tasks and solutions for the last months of this year, Son instructed the group’s specialized departments, member units, project management boards, and branches to update their tasks for August and the remaining months of 2024. These are to be based on evaluating the results in the first seven months of 2024 and forecasts of macroeconomics, energy market trends, and financial and monetary policies. Departments/offices, units, and oil and gas contractors need to urgently review their goals, tasks, and targets, and implement flexible solutions, he said, requiring particular emphasis to be placed on safety at construction sites and plants. 🌟The Petroleum Authority of Uganda monitors the participation of Ugandans in the oil and gas sector as suppliers of goods and services. 💼 The Authority also connects these suppliers to the oil companies and their contractors through the National Suppliers’ Database (NSD). 🔒 Only individuals or entities on the NSD can be contracted to supply goods and services in the sector. 🔗 To register on the NSD, log on to  nsd.pau.go.ug 📌 While the Authority does not guarantee automatic contracts for registered entities, meeting the requirements for registration on the NSD gives entities a competitive advantage for other business opportunities. #PAUNationalContent

Since then, Ghana has emerged as a key oil producer in West Africa, with additional fields like TEN (Tweneboa, Enyenra, and Ntomme) and Sankofa adding to its output. The industry has brought significant revenue and job opportunities, but challenges remain. Issues like sustainable resource management, environmental impact, and ensuring transparency in revenue use are critical to maximizing long-term benefits. As Ghana balances these challenges, the sector holds promise for driving economic growth and energy security. On Thursday, September 26, 2024, I attended the Ghana Oil and Gas Conference hosted by the Ghana Upstream Chamber at the Accra Marriott Hotel, representing ShawbellConsulting. The conference provided valuable insights into the petroleum upstream sector in Ghana, with extensive discussions on the Local Content Policy and presentations on the legal framework governing the industry. It is noteworthy that there exists a broad range of financial opportunities within the industry that are often overlooked, largely due to prevailing misconceptions regarding its cost-intensive nature. This perception may stem from the limited financial support the industry receives from local entities. In reality, the potential returns on investment are substantial compared to the initial capital required. I would like to extend my gratitude to the various oil companies present, including #Tullow Oil, #Ten, #Kosmos Energy, #Vitol, #Eni, #Pecan Energies, #Ghana Gas, and #Amaja Oilfield Limited, as well as other financial institutions, for their contributions and insights regarding the complexities of operating within the industry. Nigeria to unlock $10 billion deep-water investment with new oil and gas tax relief package. The Nigerian government is aiming to attract $5 to $10 billion in near-term investments for deep-water offshore operations through the recently introduced tax incentives in the oil and gas sector. U.S. supermajor ExxonMobil has proposed an investment of $10 billion in Nigeria's deepwater oil resource development.
