Day 6: Neighbours: The Unsung Heroes 🫡 Last night around 10:30 PM, a devastating fire erupted in my neighbourhood, Kaushaltar. It was a scene of panic and urgency, with flames rapidly consuming a residential building. But in the face of this disaster, something extraordinary happened. Our neighbours became heroes. They didn't wait for the fire trucks, which, unfortunately, took a whole 30 minutes to arrive due to the municipality's shortage of emergency vehicles. Instead, they took matters into their own hands. Buckets of water were passed hand-to-hand, doors were knocked on to ensure everyone got out, and a few brave souls even risked their lives entering the burning building to help a grandmother trapped inside. When the fire trucks finally arrived, the firefighters did an incredible job containing and extinguishing the blaze. Their efforts were nothing short of heroic. But the delay highlighted a significant issue: our municipality simply doesn't have enough fire trucks to respond promptly to emergencies. This incident is a stark reminder of the gaps in our emergency preparedness. We need more resources, better infrastructure, and quicker response times. But it’s also a powerful testament to the strength and resilience of our community. To all the neighbours who acted selflessly and bravely last night, thank you. Your courage saved lives and prevented further destruction. Let's push for better support from our local government while continuing to support and look out for each other. #CommunityHeroes #EmergencyPreparedness #Municipality #Bravery #Neighbours #SupportLocalServices #Gratitude
