🌱 🌳 🌊 Do you love Environment, Coast and Rural? Do you love the North East? Are you looking for a new challenge??? This could be the perfect opportunity! 🌳 🌊 🌱 💥 💥 💥 I'm recruiting for a new programme manager to lead on Environment, Coast and Rural portfolio work for the The North East Combined Authority. Please apply, repost, share with your networks, or just prod excellent potential candidates! Closing date - 2nd Feb 💥 💥 💥 Its a really exciting time for environmental and rural matters here in the North East. We've just signed off our Environment, Coast, Rural Investment Plan and our Cabinet agreed an indicative £17m to support it. We're launching a carbon and nature marketplace, a climate adaptation pilot, a Rural and Coastal Taskforce with Defra, and a rural business support package - and that's just the start! We need great people to help us achieve all this and more. Things I would always want to know when looking at a new job (so you don't have to ask): - Is there someone already in post on a temp basis? - No, this is a genuinely new post - Do we have someone in mind for this post? - honestly no, we're simply seeking the best possible candidate - Will I manage people? - Yes, we're also recruiting a policy advisor very soon - Do we expect expertise in both environment (nature recovery, climate change etc) AND rural development? - No, that would be nice but not a requirement - Could I do this job on secondment? - Possibly, that is an option in the right situation. https://lnkd.in/eRsvWGaJ Just tagging you to repost and highlight to your networks: Janice Rose MBESarah McMillanMaria AntoniouLloyd JonesJamie FletcherJim HeslopRory Sherwood-ParkinLaura TurveyNeil WilkinsonMike PrattJim CokillTony GatesDavid FeigeNick BrodinMark Adamson FRSARichard PowLydia SpeakmanKaren DaglishHenry KippinMelanie Thompson-GlenJeremy PhillipsonPaul Cowie #environmentjobs #environmentaljobs #northeastjobs #climatejobs #naturejobs

Happy Earth Day! Starting in 1970, this day has grown into a large global movement to raise awareness about environmental protection. We are taking this opportunity to explore Green jobs, debunk some myths, and develop different ways to do something positive this Earth Day. What are Green jobs? As the ONS defines, green jobs contribute to “protecting or restoring the environment, including those that mitigate or adapt to climate change”. Green jobs encompass various roles focused on environmental protection, clean energy, and sustainable development. Perhaps conservation comes to mind, but it doesn’t stop there – green jobs can now be found in many different sectors. Think environmental architects, project managers, climate change analysts, environmental lawyers, corporate sustainability officers, policy advisors, and environmental educators. Whether you’re great with numbers, creative problem-solving, or a people person, there's a green job out there that aligns with your interests. Green jobs also span various sectors. You could get a career advocating for the natural world in a marketing, media, and communications role. Discover jobs in renewables at the Solar & Storage recruitment event next week. Green Jobs for Nature is a great place to explore different types of Green jobs and job profiles of people already working in those roles. Consider how you could use your experience, skills, and aspirations to work towards a green career path. Check our jobs board on Engage – current opportunities include the Environmental Graduate Scheme, Sustainability Trainee in the investment industry, Earth & Environment Graduate Development Programme, and Water and Energy Graduate Development Programme. Why Green Jobs? Green jobs are projected to be the fastest-growing occupations in the coming years. The number of advertised sustainable jobs has almost tripled in 2024 (Prospects). Your skills and passion can positively impact our planet – Green jobs are at the forefront of tackling climate change and building a sustainable future. They drive economic growth, promote social equity, and protect our environment with resource efficiency and biodiversity conservation. What now? There are many ways you can start developing the skills and experience now as a student that will be useful when applying for Green Jobs: · participate in our gardening workshops. · set up a society with other students. · find out more about initiatives you might be able to get involved in, such as the Sustainability Fund and Cavendish Living Lab. As there are many charities in the environmental sector, volunteering opportunities are available, including Volunteer Energy Advisors, Ecologists and Environmental Engineers and Climate & Sustainability Volunteers. Also, consider booking an appointment with a Careers Consultant on Engage to discuss your career plans, job-hunting, applications, and routes into various sectors. #EarthDay
