Check out the latest issue of The Employment Journey on PEI:
Happy Canada Career Month! The Employment Journey on PEI is celebrating with success stories of three bursary winners. We also see what PEI Literacy Alliance has been up to this past year. Reminder of their Celebration of Learning event November 20th at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall in Charlottetown. We profile the hiring practices of Holland College, UPEI, and Prince County Hospital. Sticking with healthcare, we look at the Audiology profession and how one trucking health and safety consulting company is expanding to offer a medical clinic. We also talk to an organization rebranding to help connect international students and graduates to the job market, and more.

Again, shamefully lazy job recruiters. I have to post this job ad from Science Europe for a termporary (1 year) Policy Officer. It requires the usual CV and cover letter. Fine. They then require you to: "include with your application the names and contact details of two people who could provide references." So you need to go out to contact people to explain what the job is about and get their approval. Fair enough - within reason. Overall, you may spend a good 2-4 hours refining your cv, letter and getting referees. But they finish with "Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted." So, of course, they want you to make some reasonable effort, but they cannot be evern bothered to send out a short email to say "thanks, but no thanks" (one minute max per applicant). This is shamefully lazy and arrogant and should put many competent applicants off from 'bothering' to offer their skills and experience. Like "we'll decide whether you are worth communicating with." To lack basic respect for applicants brings into question how they may treat and respect their own people. https://lnkd.in/eNgbRDcb #scienceeurope
