Did you know that handicapped and senior dogs often wait the longest in shelters for a home, despite having so much love to give? Bringing a loyal companion into your life can transform routines into shared adventures and lasting bonds. Subaru's National Make a Dog’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show some extra love to our furry friends, especially those at Straydog. Straydog is a no-kill dog shelter and sanctuary that believes every dog deserves a loving home, including our elderly and disabled dogs. Take Ethel, for example, a sweet senior dog who doesn’t know she’s a senior and still has so much love to give. Or Chip, a brave pup who lost a leg but hasn’t slowed down one bit, with a heart full of joy. Then there's Jack Jack, who has mobility issues due to a neurological condition but is still full of life and vigor. Dogs like these don’t feel sorry for themselves; they just enjoy life and give love unconditionally. Adopting from Straydog not only brings joy to your life but also transforms the lives of these amazing dogs. Our sanctuary provides a safe haven for them, offering medical care, rehabilitation, and plenty of love while they wait for their forever homes. We also have a fostering program that allows potential adopters to get to know a dog before making a permanent commitment. Join us in celebrating Subaru of America's National Make a Dog’s Day by considering adoption or fostering. Let’s make every day a dog’s day by opening our hearts and homes to these deserving animals. For more information on how you can help or to view our adoptable dogs, please visit our website at www.straydog.org/adopt #Subaru #NationalMakeaDogsDay #StraydogInc #Straydog #NoKillShelter #adoptdontshop #adoptadog

Non-invasive energetic healing of the animal realm-your most valued pet including but not limited to: cats, dogs, birds, horses. A force field for calm communication and physical and emotional healing.
OMG! That puppy is sooo cute. I just gotta have it. NO YOU DON’T! Puppies are not the next new fad. They are living, breathing entities. They have the same needs (food and shelter) and wants (love and affection) as us. Puppies grow up to be adult dogs. Tossing them away when they are no longer cute or when they have become a problem you can’t handle has a lasting effect on them. As they have been raised to depend on their human guardians for their necessities, releasing them to the wild will, if not found by someone, often kill them. When you bring a puppy into your home, it is your responsibility to train them to be the dog you want them to be. It’s all too easy to treat them like a baby and avoid discipline early on. However, when you do that, you have created a problem dog. Training a puppy requires commitment, consistency and patience and can be quite frustrating at times. Before taking on the responsibility of adopting a puppy, consider how much work and effort it will take to train the new member so that they integrate into the family unit in a way that works for everyone. Puppies are like babies. They require a lot of care and attention. Make an informed decision and not one based on emotion. Research the breed. Will it fit in with your lifestyle? If you are adopting a puppy for your child, you must consider that the puppy will more than likely be yours to care for. If you don’t have the time or energy required to look after a puppy, now may not be the best time to adopt one.

So you think a dog would make you feel better… but can’t have one of your own. No Problem! Living in a tiny apartment? Juggling a hectic work schedule? So many people with these common daily situations would reap the benefits of owning a dog, but because of these situations, the idea seems like a distant dream. What if I told you that you could still experience the pawsome perks of canine companionship without the full-time commitment? Have you heard of “borrowing" a furry friend? Turns out, there are countless options, from dog-walking services and pet-sitting gigs to volunteering at shelters or fostering pups in need. I even read about a site called “Borrow My Doggy” that, unfortunately, operates exclusively in the UK. However, the point remains that even "borrowing" can be just as enriching. Here’s how: Mental health boost—Studies show that simply interacting with dogs can reduce stress, lower anxiety, and even improve mood. A lunchtime walk with a playful pup can be the perfect antidote to a monotonous routine. Community connections - Sharing your love for dogs instantly opens doors to new friendships and connections. You'll find yourself swapping stories, sharing tips, and bonding with fellow dog enthusiasts. Giving back - By fostering or volunteering, you'll provide crucial care and love to dogs in need, positively impacting their lives. Dogs have much to offer us, even if we can’t give them a full-time home. Don't let the dream of canine companionship fade! Explore the joyful possibilities of "borrowing" a dog and unlock a world of mental health benefits, community connection, and heartwarming experiences. Do you have ideas about how we can maximize the benefits of our relationships with animals, even when we don’t have the resources to keep a pet of our own? Please share them in the comments.
