We all say we know to recycle... but secretly we sometimes struggle when it comes time to actually recycle or compost. Find more info about how to find the differences here! To make it even more challenging, each jurisdiction has its own local guidelines. Learn more from ZeroWaste Sonoma https://lnkd.in/g7EsDHki
There's still time to register to learn all about composting. Join us March 19th to learn the basics on recycling your food scraps and lawn waste. https://ow.ly/UIVC50QrRT0
Better start recycling those food scraps! 🥙🥗

Starting in 2024, California’s SB 1383 could fine individuals for not recycling food waste to combat landfill methane emissions 🍎🚯. Sacramento is focusing on education, offering green bins to foster compliance without penalties 🌿📚. Initiatives have boosted organic recycling and reduced landfill waste, showing significant environmental benefits 🌍♻️. Other cities like Folsom and Rancho Cordova prioritize education to help residents adapt to new rules 🏡📘. Placer County’s unique ‘one big bin’ system simplifies compliance by sorting waste at facilities 🗑️🌱. These efforts support California’s goal to recycle 75% of organic waste, equivalent to removing 3 million cars from roads 🚗🍃. (Kcra.com) #EcoFriendly#WasteNot#SustainableCalifornia#GreenInitiatives
At Nine Zero, we’re all about minimising waste!
As part of this, we partner with farms close to our Cornwall workshop, supplying them with our timber waste to be repurposed for animal bedding and composting. This not only aids in reducing landfill contributions but also supports the local agricultural community in Southwest England.
It’s also important to us to share our story and showcase how industrial waste can be transformed into valuable resources, which we hope encourages other eco-conscious businesses to assess and reduce their own environmental footprint.
If you want to know more about how we are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint, read our latest blog 👇

I don’t directly post often, but when I do, I try to make it meaningful. As we wrap up Plastic Free July, I’d like to strongly suggest to anyone wondering how they can make a positive impact on the planet to read the most recent book by Edward Humes, Total Garbage: How We Can Fix Our Waste and Heal Our World.
It is eye opening and tells a story about how we should look at waste as the root-cause problem of a lot of our global issues, from plastic pollution to climate change. He opens our eyes to waste-mindfulness (i.e. being less trashy), a personal journey I’ve been on for a long time. The first book of his that I read, Eco Barons: The New Heroes of Environmental Activism, was instrumental in my thinking with how I founded my own organization to achieve breakthrough conservation outcomes. Howell Conservation Fund works on root cause issues, similar to what Total Garbage talks about. I can’t wait to see where insights from Total Garbage take us next!
Total Garbage is so inspirational to me that I will buy a digital copy of the book for the first 10 people that reach out to me about this post!

Plastic waste in the ocean is a significant environmental concern, harming marine life, ecosystems, and affecting human health. Efforts to reduce single-use plastics and promote recycling are crucial for addressing this global issue. 🌊
At Think Ocean we believe that each clean-up raises public awareness to the threat of marine litter in a very effective way. In various studies, volunteers say that participating in clean-up events makes them more mindful of how they dispose of their own waste. 🗑

This is such an important conversation to have in Australia - one of the driest continents on earth - facing the impacts of climate change over the coming decades. We need to make bold and informed decisions for a water secure future.
#climatechange#watersecurity#sustainability
In a changing and drying climate, improving how we reclaim and reuse the by-products of our water use is important for future water security.
We haven't just named our wastewater plants Water Reclamation Plants, we've committed to embedding sustainable practices in every part of our business.
At the Bendigo Water Reclamation Plant, the production of recycled water and biosolids helps us contribute to a circular economy and deliver benefits to our customers, communities and the environment.
This Earth Day, and every day, we know a commitment to the environment doesn’t just stop at using less water!
We’re saying ‘No’ to wastewater, and ‘Yes’ to innovative ways to deliver recycled water across our region - giving the water we use a second life.
