One simple fix to the healthcare industry we all need: Encouraging numbers/data transparency for medical providers (and people actually using it!) As it stands now …  It’s not that easy to find. Imagine if people checked the data before having a treatment or service. They would know the quality of their providers and their outcomes. Though you may have to dig, it is possible to find provider data now. 1. Visit the hospital's or office’s website. ➜ Look for sections like "Quality Reports" or "Patient Outcomes." 2. Use government websites. ➜ Sites like Medicare.gov offer detailed provider performance data. 3. Consider third-party review sites. ➜ Platforms like Healthgrades and RateMDs provide patient reviews and ratings. 4. Don't hesitate to ask directly. ➜ Call the provider's office and request their success rates or complication statistics. 5. Check Kelly Blue Book.  ➜ Believe it or not … there is a Kelly Blue Book for providers as well. Transparency should be a standard practice in healthcare. AM:" The biggest challenge we've heard about from stakeholders is the sheer volume of diverse prior authorization policies across all the payers. Providers spend far too much time tracking down payer requirements and filling in the required documentation. Under our policies, each payer will be required to identify all of their policies and guidelines and then structure them to be incorporated into an API for use by the providers, through an EHR, using automated processes that save providers time and burden. There are thousands of these requirements, which must be identified and analyzed, and then the rules have to be computable. Every payer has to execute the same process on those different policies. Once that work is done, the process will be streamlined, but it will be a significant effort." Itiliti Health can help. Statement on U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Final Rule Establishing Disincentives for Health Care Providers That Have Committed #InfoBlocking: “Given the minimal changes from the proposed rule, the EHR Association remains concerned that the regulation establishing information blocking disincentives for healthcare providers is too narrowly focused and will do little to support broader interoperability and greater health information access. HHS remained focused in this final rule only on certified health IT users, leaving out a significant list of other stakeholders, such as labs and providers who don’t participate in MIPS but are nonetheless central to healthcare information exchange. A more inclusive approach to disincentives could motivate a wider range of healthcare providers to embrace information sharing best practices. "Further, CMS and ONC will need to conduct extensive education on this final regulation and what it means to healthcare provider organizations, as it is clear that the number one obstacle to compliance at the moment is a lack of awareness of the requirements amongst hospitals and physician practices.”
