#LeedsCityCouncil Pressured To Take #ClimateAction And Go 100% Plant-Based. The #PlantBasedCouncils campaign aims to address the #climateemergency starting with the food on our plates. On April 25, 2024 at #LeedsCivicHall, local residents and supporters of the #PlantBasedCouncils campaign unfurled a banner asking #LeedsCityCouncil to ensure that all #foodanddrink provided at council meetings and events is 100% plant-based. Working with councils across the #UK to encourage them to lead the way in the switch from emission heavy foods to #plantbased ones that are #betterforhealth, our #planet and reducing the impact from the #costofliving crisis. Campaigners also asked for members of the Councils’ #ClimateEmergencyAdvisoryCommittee to meet with them to discuss promoting #plantbaseddiets as a response to the #climatecrisis. #PlantBasedCouncils, an #AnimalRisingCampaign, is a national initiative of local residents who are pushing for their councils to adopt 100% plant-based catering. The group claims that local authorities have a responsibility to follow the current scientific consensus, which acknowledges the environmental, health and cost benefits of plant-based meals over those containing meat and dairy.
