Considering a trip to South America? ⛰ Then like most travellers, the famous “Inca Trail Trek” to Machu Picchu is on your mind. It's the #1 bucket-list experience in Peru: so to combat overtourism and preserve the trail, only 500 permits are available per day (for 200 tourists and 300 porters). Unsurprisingly, permits sell out fast and the narrow trails are made even more challenging when packed with other trekkers. But did you know there’s another way? Intrepid offer an alternative trek on the Quarry Trail. It’s a lesser-known and hidden gem, as past-trekkers will confirm it's one the most beautiful walks in South America. It sees a fraction of the crowds on the Inca, the distance is shorter at only 26km, and the many villages benefit from our travellers’ visits. It's the path less travelled to Machu Picchu, yet still a ‘Good Trip’ in so many ways. So pack those hiking boots, and trek over to our website to learn all about the 'Quiet Quarry:' https://lnkd.in/gQ86FZ4E

What a night: so proud to have attended the first TIME - Travel Industry Mentor Experience Graduation in Melbourne! 🥂 Congratulations to all the graduates: Sara Doyle, Emma Donovan and Liz Eastaugh. Welcome to the community! 🤝 Huge thanks to Ines Iniesta and the team at Eureka 89 Dining & Events, stunning venue and hospitality ✨ and finally Ingrid Berthelsen for making it all happen! You’re such a champion for the Melbourne travel community 👏 Well done to all!
I think I needed a moment to process last night - when we held our first TIME - Travel Industry Mentor Experience Graduation outside of Sydney, in Melbourne. We feel so proud and excited to have finally been able to achieve this goal that started with a business plan a small group of Melbourne based volunteers submitted to the Board more than 5 years ago. Over that period TIME in Melbourne has gone from strength to strength and it wouldn't have been possible without all of the incredible local mentors and mentees as well as our local Melbourne travel & tourism community who have continued to show up to our networking events over the years and made this first graduation event happen. A huge congrats to our three graduates on the night - Liz Eastaugh Sara Doyle Emma Donovan and their mentors who joined us David Hughes Andy Buerckner Thuy (Twee) Carroll from both Melbourne & Adelaide. A special thank you to our sponsors & hosts for the evening Journey Beyond, the Eureka 89 Dining & Events team & superstar co-ordinator Ines Iniesta, our two Board members who flew down for the event Kelley Wacher & Trish Shepherd GAICD and to our panel of speakers for the evening Cesar Piotto Pete Rawley & Cassi Tormey. It was such a wonderful night of learning, laughs and appreciation. Also a shout out to all of the people over the years who have been involved in pulling this night together: Peter Topping GAICD Sandy Colombo ✅Emma Whiting Brett Harvey Casey Murphy for all the initial ideas and support 5 years ago, Penny Spencer & Marie for all of your on-going support in making this event happen, to Trish Shepherd GAICD for advocating and working with us in the early days to bring our ideas to life and to Tenille Hunt Hannah Taylor Isabel Limn for your support and help over the past few years culminating in such a fantastic evening last night. #travelindustrymentoring #graduationevent #mentoringgraduates

After 9 incredible years in wholesale touring, it’s time to do something a little different… I've pivoted to tech and started as an account manager at Travelport! Thrilled to combine my passion for travel and new tech. More importantly: excited to find new ways to innovate in a core part of booking holidays.

I’ve just finished the 7-day North Morocco Adventure, which will be my last Intepid trip as an employee. Such a brilliant way to wrap up my time at this company. It showcased part of an incredible country with a small group of other curious, connected and conscious travellers. The low-carbon transport via trains, the storytelling by local guides and leaders, and seeing tourism as a force for good firsthand were incredible. I’m so grateful for my time here. I met and worked with some incredible people: amongst the best in our industry. I’m proud to have played a small part in Intrepid’s journey. I can’t stay away from travel, so I’ll be starting in a new role in the industry very soon. While I’m sad to be leaving, I’m looking forward to the next adventure. For now, heartfelt thanks to everyone at Intrepid. Here’s a few of favourite memories:

✨ What a night! ✨ Intrepid Travel were the proud sponsors of the Women In Travel awards. While I was excited to have been a finalist, the real win of the night was celebrating the incredible talent, achievement and strengths of the women in our industry. Even better: our team were there to cheer on Jenny Gray for winning Tour Operator/Wholesaler, and Louise Laing for coming in at #10 on the Powerlist. Congrats also to my fellow Intrepid finalists: Samantha McQueen, Erica Hazen and Susanne Etti, and to all the finalists and attendees on the night. And finally thank you to Hoda Alzubaidi and the Travel Weekly team for creating a space to celebrate and empower one another. Here’s to curly hair, and supporting our female peers! Why is touring going from strength to strength? At the 2023 Helloworld Frontliners Forum, I was privileged to join Tomas Malmberg from The Travel Corporation, Neil Rodgers from Adventure World and Sarah Hoskin from the Globus family of brands to share our thoughts. Together we discussed the ‘new touring customer,’ shared each of our unique offerings to help qualify the right traveller for our brands, and provided tips on how to approach a conversation about sustainability and purpose. I spoke about our work at Intrepid Travel and acknowledged the work of The TreadRight Foundation and the Lighthouse Project. Big thank you to Helloworld Travel Limited for the opportunity, and my fellow panellists for the great discussion. Clearly the strength comes from collaboration with passionate and committed peers!

11moI did the Quarry trail in 2019 with a group of school students! It was incredible, lots to see on the way in regards to ancestry of Quechua people and spectacular views. It’s amazing.
