Something that I have been saying to self published, indie and small press authors quite a bit lately is versions of: No book will sell itself. A book won’t speak to potential readers by virtue of its being available to buy on Amazon or Waterstones and Barnes & Noble. If you haven’t already got a household name, a huge social media following or a PR and Marketing team behind you, the work of promoting and selling your book - of compelling readers to want to buy and read it - is going to be down to you. This is why I created and developed my unique Build Your Author Brand online programme. You will get access to my knowledge, experience and skills of 20 years as a publicist and PR, working across Film, TV, Entertainment and Books. I will give you my unbiased advice on how best to approach the promotion of your particular book. You will develop your own unique Author Brand Story - the unique messaging you will use to present your book in its genre. You will get a chance to do all of this in the company of other Authors, going through the same challenges and the same journey as you. You can access all of this in my 6 week course - for a fraction of the price of working with a pro publicist or marketer in the traditional way. If you could access the guidance, advice, mentorship and encouragement of a top tier pro, to give your book its best chance of success in the marketplace - why wouldn’t you? The opportunity is here. Enrolment for the next Build Your Author Brand 6 week course opens very soon. If you want to be first on the list to be notified when you can book your place, please comment below or send me a DM. #authorbrand

Listening to the fabulous Steve Pratt's book Earn It: Unconventional Strategies for Brave Marketers on my AM walk today. So much wisdom here, I want to have a book club style discussion with others in the content creation world. Just a few highlights: 1. The magic formula of creative bravery plus commitment. 2. Ad conversion rates are really poor and we often don't think about the other side of that story. Meanwhile, we have the opportunity to own the content experience that people opt into (it's a high bar and a rewarding one). 3. Time and attention over reach. Will 2025 be the year you embrace doing the opposite of what most marketers are doing? Who wants to join my book club discussion? 📚 🎧 😊

I’ve read dozens of books, but this one truly changed my game: (And no, it’s not Rich Dad Poor Dad.) → Influence by Robert Cialdini. This book reshaped how I approach marketing—and life. Here’s how you can use its 6 principles to win on LinkedIn: 1. Reciprocity: Make your free content so good, it rivals their paid programs. 2. Consistency: Show up regularly—posting and engaging are your superpowers. 3. Social Proof: Share your results and transformations—your story inspires. 4. Authority: Stick to one topic and become the trusted expert in your niche. 5. Liking: Be human. Share your journey and connect on a personal level. 6. Scarcity: Carve out your unique niche. No one else can be you. I re-read this book every 3 months because its lessons are timeless. It taught me more than my marketing degree ever could. Master these principles → and watch your influence grow.
