🎥 Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): A Silent Threat We Can’t Ignore 🛑 I’m thrilled to share a project I worked on during World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) — a motion graphic campaign aimed at educating communities about the dangers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and how we can combat it. 💬 The story highlights Chike, whose misuse of antibiotics could lead to stronger bacteria — the rise of superbugs. Through this engaging narrative, the video emphasizes: 1️⃣ ASK your doctor whether antibiotics are necessary. 2️⃣ VERIFY the prescription. 3️⃣ COMPLETE your dose to avoid resistance. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support and sponsorship from: 🔹 One Health & Development Initiative One Health and Development Initiative 🔹 Stop Superbug Squad for AMR Communication Stop Superbugs Squad 🔹 Microbiology Society Microbiology Society 🔹 South Centre South Centre, Geneva As an African Youth Champion for AMR Communication, this campaign reflects my commitment to spreading awareness and inspiring action against AMR. Antibiotic misuse is a global threat, and it’s time we act responsibly to ensure these life-saving drugs remain effective for generations to come. 🙌 A big thank you to everyone who made this possible! Let’s keep the momentum alive in advocating for One Health and safeguarding global health. 📢 Watch, Share, Act! #AMR #WorldAntimicrobialAwarenessWeek #StopSuperbugs #OneHealth #Antibiotics #YouthChampions #PublicHealth #HealthAdvocacy #GlobalHealth #AntibioticAwareness #AMRCommunication #OneHealthDevelopmentInitiative #StopSuperbugSquad #MicrobiologySociety #SouthCentre #Videography

I am thrilled to share that I have participated in Sudan's National Antimicrobial Resistance Symposium, an initiative dedicated to combating one of the most pressing global health challenges of our time. The symposium provided a platform to discuss innovative strategies and collaborative efforts to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Experts from diverse fields shared their knowledge, emphasizing the importance of One Health, a concept that unites human, animal, and environmental health to address AMR effectively. Key Takeaways: 1-The need for responsible antimicrobial use in healthcare and agriculture. 2-Surveillance systems to monitor AMR trends globally. 3-The role of healthcare professionals in spreading awareness and promoting stewardship programs. 4-Collaborative research as a tool for developing new therapeutic approaches. Participating in such a high-impact event has strengthened my resolve to contribute toward mitigating AMR as a healthcare professional. I am excited to apply the insights I’ve gained to my future endeavors in pharmacy and public health. A huge thank you to the organizers for this opportunity and to the esteemed speakers for sharing their valuable expertise. Together, we can make a difference! #AntimicrobialResistance #OneHealth #HealthcareLeadership #Pharmacy #PublicHealth #AMR #Collaboration #ProfessionalDevelopment #GlobalHealth #microgen #microbiologysociety #pharmacists

The Global Antibiotic R&D Partnership (GARDP) and Bugworks Research Inc. are joining forces to develop BWC0977, a novel broad-spectrum antibiotic targeting multidrug-resistant bacteria responsible for life-threatening infections. GARDP will invest up to $20 million in this venture, granting them manufacturing and commercialization rights in 146 countries, primarily low- and middle-income (LMIC) nations. This innovative compound shows promise against critical pathogens like carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii and Klebsiella pneumoniae, which are major contributors to antimicrobial resistance-related deaths. This collaboration aims to ensure global access to effective treatments, addressing urgent public health needs. #AntibioticResistance #PowerOfAntibiotics Read more here ➡ https://bit.ly/4c8ffjd

🗓️ Today is an important day in Infectious Diseases. It's the second United Nations High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance. 🦠🔬 Antimicrobial resistance is a global health problem that has huge impact in patients outcomes and healthcare systems. AMR Accelerator program calls for urgent investment in new antimicrobial treatments. #amr #ipc #infectiousdiseases #research #antibiotics #vaccines
📢 Global Action Needed!🌎 Ahead of the 2024 United Nations High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), the AMR Accelerator - a partnership of 9 European projects and 98 organisations, including European Vaccine Initiative (EVI)-led PrIMAVeRa project - calls for urgent investment in antibiotic development. Featured in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, the call to action emphasises the need for coordinated global action, urging governments and private sectors to secure Europe’s ability to counteract #AMR. Initiatives like the AMR accelerator push forward a global collaboration by uniting organisations, streamlining research, and focusing on sustainable innovation, but sustained funding is essential to keep addressing the growing global health threat that AMR poses. 📃Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gAB6mXjR 📣Call to action: https://lnkd.in/eqGbRqmg 📽https://lnkd.in/gzTk2ifA #PrIMAVeRa_AMR #AntibioticResistance #GlobalHealth #StopSuperbugs #UNGAHLM
