Actively looking for full time role in Information Technology. Problem-Solving/Windows OS/MS Office/Office 365/Troubleshooting/Adaptability/Attention to Detail/Computer Systems/Security Awareness/Basic Python Scripting
Unable to sleep tonight as the weight of this job hunt has begun to really bear down on me. Another week of submitting my resume countless times, without an interview in sight. I have not given up yet though and will continue to pursue what I have been working towards without falter. In other news, I was able to find a new cybersecurity boot camp called NukuDo that recently opened in Texas. After doing my research on the company, I found that they offer a paid hands-on training program that finishes by completing a 3-year contract with one of their partners. I've seen a ton of negative things about cyber boot camps online, with people stating that they are useless and companies give them no weight in hiring. With the current market though, it seems the only way to land an entry-level position is with prior work experience, even at the help desk level. Even with the negative opinions, I thought to myself 'Why not?' and decided to apply. I am currently in phase 2 of the process which was a programming aptitude test that I finished today. I am only waiting on the results to see if I move on to phase 3. So what are your thoughts? Are boot camps worth it? Would you try one if you were a fresher in today's market? What would you do if you decided not to pursue a boot camp? #cybersecurity #informationtechnology #lookingforjob #networking #technology

😥 Entry-Level Cyber Jobs Requiring ++ Years of Experience: A Major Pain Point for Candidates! In cybersecurity, entry-level jobs demanding ++ years of experience are creating significant barriers for new graduates and career switchers, leading to widespread frustration. 👉 The Cybersecurity Skills Gap: Despite a huge demand for skilled professionals due to rising cyber threats, many employers set high experience requirements for entry-level positions. This is particularly challenging for recent graduates and those with relevant certifications like Ethical Hacking for Professionals or Web Pentesting Essentials. 👉The Experience Dilemma: Fresh graduates/trainee face a catch-22: they need experience to get a job, but they need a job to gain experience. Career switchers face the same hurdle, making it difficult for them to break into the field. 👉Why Do Employers Demand So Much Experience? Employers prefer candidates who can immediately contribute and minimize risks. The fast-paced nature of cybersecurity makes them favor those with proven real-world experience. 👉Moving Forward: To address this issue, the industry should: 📢 Reevaluate Job Descriptions: Focus on skills and competencies rather than years of experience. 📢Promote Internships and Apprenticeships: Provide practical experience opportunities. 📢Establish Mentorship Programs: Connect newcomers with experienced professionals for guidance. 📢Value Certifications and Training: Recognize certifications as indicators of readiness. 👉Conclusion: The high experience requirement for entry-level cybersecurity jobs is a significant barrier. Adjusting job requirements and offering alternative paths to gain experience can build a more inclusive and robust cybersecurity workforce, helping aspiring professionals achieve their career goals. 🤗 Credit - Mozaffar Hassan

It's an excellent time to be alive for cyber operators. If you live in the US. The White House has started a new program called Service for America to fill about 500,000 open cybersecurity jobs across the US. The program, announced by National Cyber Director Harry Coker Jr., aims to connect Americans with jobs in cybersecurity, technology, and artificial intelligence. The interesting part is that they're looking for people who don't necessarily have traditional qualifications like computer science degrees. ✓ White House launches cybersecurity hiring ✓ 500,000 cybersecurity job openings available ✓ Recruitment targets non-traditional backgrounds ✓ National strategy addresses skills gap ✓ Cybersecurity industry faces burnout issues Coker says many Americans don't realise they can have a career in cybersecurity. The White House wants to change this idea and show that people from all backgrounds can find good-paying jobs in this field. This push for more workers is part of a bigger plan to make the country stronger against cyberattacks. The cybersecurity industry has been facing some challenges. Workers are feeling stressed and burnt out, partly because of job cuts in private companies and the pressure of dealing with constant security alerts. To help with this, the White House introduced a plan last year to train more people in cybersecurity. They're now organizing job fairs and providing information about federal jobs, internships, and training programs to get more people interested in these careers. --- Web Page: https://buff.ly/4dWdDu2 --- #cybersecurity #usa #jobs

I've been speaking to a lot of really interesting candidates recently all wondering about the merits of a career in cyber vs other areas of the IT industry. Here's an article I wrote about a year ago that outlines why it's such a great move. Also, here's a short summary of the key points 👇 Cybersecurity Skills Gap in the US: - Dire shortage of cybersecurity professionals. - 700,000 cybersecurity jobs to be unfilled at the end of 2022 and even more now. - Universities unable to produce graduates at the pace of demand. Opportunities for Graduates: - Abundant opportunities in the cybersecurity sector. - Jobs created at more than five times the rate of the wider economy. - Graduates with the right skills and mindset will be highly sought after. Financial Rewards: - Pursuing a career in cybersecurity can be financially lucrative. - Average wage of a cybersecurity professional is around £116k. - Specialists with in-demand skills can command even higher salaries. Diverse Specializations: - Cybersecurity encompasses a wide range of roles and job types. - Analysts, testers, administrators, data interpreters, and system defense experts are all in demand. - Non-coders also have opportunities in the field. Future-Proof Career: - Rapid evolution of skills in demand. - Cybersecurity skills are considered future-proof. - Roles involving systems analysis, cybersecurity architecture, and dealing with online threats are set to grow. Getting Started: Graduate Schemes: - Companies offering graduate schemes or training programs. - Some schemes do not require a computer-related degree. - Competitive starting salaries offered, e.g., National Grid Co pays up to $84k. Certifications: - Employers prioritize skills over traditional education. - Self-directed study and certifications demonstrate commitment. - Cisco accreditations and certifications from Google and AWS are valuable. Soft Skills: - Employers value soft skills in addition to technical expertise. - Culture fit, enthusiasm, effective communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are crucial. - Personal development and a proactive approach are highly regarded by hiring managers. If you'd like more information on any of this, or how to break into a career in the dynamic world of cybersecurity, get in touch. #cybersecurity #careers #skillsgap
