🌱✨ Exciting Insights from the CAA International Cocoa Conference! ✨🌱 We kicked off the day with inspiring opening remarks from Gricha Safarian, Managing Director of Puratos Grand-Place Indochina, setting the stage for meaningful conversations on the future of cocoa sustainability. Next, we dived into Plenary 1A, led by Selene Scotton, Group Cocoa Sustainability Manager at Puratos, who introduced the session "No Farmers, No Cocoa." She shared key takeaways from the Cocoa Farmers Network Forum that took place the day before, where farmers from all over the world came together to discuss the global state of cocoa farming. It was a powerful reminder of the essential role farmers play in cultivating the cocoa we all depend on – they are the backbone of this industry, ensuring its continued success. The session transitioned into a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Wei Chien Yoong, Director ESG Controller at Cargill, with insights from Chandra Panjiwibowo (Senior Director, Asia Pacific, Rainforest Alliance), Dr. Bert Grobben (Founder & CEO, Budding Innovation), and Selene Scottin herself. Key discussion points included: 🌍 Sustainable farming practices 💡 Innovative technologies and methods ☀️ Climate change adaptation 📈 Market access and trade 🏘️ Community development and farmer cooperation ✅ Regulatory and compliance challenges The conversation emphasized the need for supporting farmers as entrepreneurs, fostering technology exposure, and enhancing collaboration across stakeholders to address supply issues and the shrinking farmer workforce. Together, we explored how we can drive a more resilient supply chain and strengthen community ties to ensure long-term sustainability. The takeaway? The module recognises multiple carbon measurement tools and methodologies, including FARM ES. At the Portfolio Agrárszektor Conference, I presented the framework and results of Nestlé-sponsored 3Keel LENs program to Hungary's most influential business leaders. The core element of LENs is regenerative agriculture, which involves the transformation of degenerative cereal production systems according to regenerative principles. The LENs program is the largest regenerative initiative in Hungary, helping Nestlé suppliers to achieve the regenerative outcomes since 2021. LENs, or Landscape Enterprise Networks, is a system for organising the buying and selling of nature-based solutions. Nature-based solutions are land management measures that deliver ecosystem functions, such as water quality management, flood risk management, resilient supply of crops, carbon, or biodiversity outcomes. https://lnkd.in/dTYQ7KTt #regenerativeagriculture #walkthetalk

By combining investment readiness with tailored science-based technical assistance, CFSA provides #agribusinesses with the necessary #tools and #knowledge to become more commercially viable, environmentally conscious, and sustainable. For the 2024 cohort, the CFSA will be partnering with the Agroecology Initiative to support agribusinesses in embracing sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices. This collaboration aims to integrate principles of agroecology, which involves the science, practices, and innovations applied to transition food systems toward more sustainable and equitable production and consumption. Agroecology emphasises improving resource efficiency, strengthening resilience, and securing social equity and responsibility. 🌾 The Big Food Redesign Challenge is an inspiring initiative launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to transform the food industry. With support from WBCSD and One Planet Business for Biodiversity (OP2B), the Challenge has provided design, promotion and training opportunities to foster ingredient innovation and drive crop diversification—a cornerstone of #RegenerativeAgriculture. By creating innovative products with diverse, plant-based ingredients, the private sector plays a crucial role in generating market demand for diverse crops and making crop diversification viable for farmers. 🚀 So far, the Challenge has seen impressive participation with 186 products from 71 organizations across 15 countries.
