FCPA, Anti-Bribery, Ethics & Compliance Consultant ▪️ Corporate Keynote & Workshop Speaker ▪️ Award-Winning E -Learning Training Producer ► Providing A Front-Line Perspective on Ethics, Compliance, Risk, & Integrity
Such a powerful piece by Rebecca Zucker via Harvard Business Review, especially in our world 🌍of remote and hybrid work. Rebecca 'nails' it right from the start when she shares: ❝ When we think about optimizing our work capacity to produce desired outcomes, it is not solely a question of available time, but available energy, that matters. You may find that when you finally have some time to focus on an important project or task, you are too spent or burned out to actually do it. ❞ It goes back to something I read in Dorie Clark's "The Long Game." Is "I am crazy busy" a good thing or a bad thing ❓ While there are numerous books 📚 written on this subject matter, Rebecca provides eight strategies to "help you create several moments to pause over the course of your workday." I'd like to add that as someone who is hearing impaired, having 'hearing' breaks, especially from 'zoom to zoom' is critical. Hearing 🎧 is like any other muscle and needs time to recover and recuperate during the day. As I learned from my audiologist, those breaks are critical for well-being- to give your 'ears' a break- and to take time between meetings. And even if you don't have a hearing impairment, as Rebecca shares, breaks are still essential "to prevent burnout, as well as be able to maintain healthy self-regulation of our emotions and behaviors so we can have positive interactions with others." While I enjoyed all of Rebecca's strategies, my favorite is number 3️⃣: Reset the default meeting duration ⏰ But you will need to read on to find out more, and the other seven!! #mindfulnessatwork #breaks #worklifebalance #culture #management #wellness
