At the World Economic Forum in Davos, ISD CEO Sasha Havlicek participated in a panel on “Truth vs Myth in Elections” with POLITICO, discussing the impact of information manipulation on public trust. She highlighted that AI isn’t the main disruptor—erosion of trust, amplified by threats to officials, is. She stressed the need for policies like the EU’s Digital Services Act to tackle botnets and fake accounts. The full list of panellists: Sasha Havlicek – Chief Executive Officer, Institute for Strategic Dialogue Almar Latour – Chief Executive Officer; Publisher, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones & Company John Harris – Founding Editor, POLITICO Clara Chappaz, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, France Dorin Recean, PMP, MBA – Prime Minister of Moldova, Office of the Prime Minister of Moldova While at WEF, Sasha also chaired a workshop on “The Rise of Networked Influence” and contributed to the Global Digital Safety Coalition’s work on digital literacy. THIS! "...the sector itself—with its wealth-based power dynamics that allow some of the richest but least knowledgeable people on the planet to have the most influence over every aspect of the work—can stymy a lot of radical thinking and actions." How will AI affect health systems? AI in healthcare is at a pivotal juncture where health systems must navigate evolving state and federal regulations while leveraging AI's opportunities. The focus is on managing risks and harnessing AI's potential to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
‘While state and federal guardrails evolve and emerge over the next few years, health systems must consider how best to manage risks while tapping into the opportunities #AI presents.’ David Lubarsky Naomi Newman Dennis C.

Insightful and compelling insights from my colleague Mark Muckerheide on measuring ROI, particularly how much community wealth, and wealth for women, is generated for each $1 invested. Her money, her voice, her decision.......Empowering women to manage their finances directly addresses systemic gender disparities is KEY CARE work across the world is working to measure and deliver a higher ROI for the women and girls, and the communities we serve.
In my essay for the World Economic Forum, I encourage donors to measure ROI, particularly how much community wealth, and wealth for women, is generated for each $1 donated. Our CARE Women’s Economic Justice team is working to measure and deliver a higher ROI and I’d love to see the sector do the same so we can advance economic growth and equality. Please reach out if you have an interest in discussing or suggestions. There is so much potential if we collectively channel our efforts. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dvApZ4GK

Read #Plurality : The Future of Collaborative Technology and Democracy. Be inspired. Plurality details how Audrey Tang and her collaborators – architects of Taiwan’s internationally acclaimed digital democracy – achieved inclusive, technology-fueled growth that harnesses digital tools to strengthen both social unity and diversity. From intimate digitally empowered telepathy to global trade running on social networks rather than money, Plurality offers tools to radically enrich relationships while making sure we leave no one behind. The ideas promise to transform every sector from health care to media, as illustrated by the way it has been written: as a chorus of open, self-governing collaboration of voices from around the globe. Buy a hardcopy, or read/listen to for free online: https://lnkd.in/ehPZB4wU Participate (because it evolves!) at https://lnkd.in/e9HZ2jAE It comes recommended by the Dalai Lama. I'm not making that up.

🚨 Deepfakes are threatening UK politics! As elections near, AI-generated content is undermining trust in our democracy. From fake audios to deepfake videos, we need to act now to prevent misinformation. 🛑 In the past year, disturbing misuses of AI in UK politics have surfaced: 🔊 A fake audio of Sadiq Khan spread by far-right groups 🎥 A deepfake video of Keir Starmer released during a major political event These videos and recordings mislead the public and erode trust in democratic institutions. As we head into a General Election, we expect debates around culture wars to intensify. 🔍 ❌ Left unchecked, those seeking to further divide communities can weaponise AI and deep fakes to create inflammatory content that adds fuel to the fire. ✍️ Please sign our petition to urge the UK Government to establish a Misinformation Task Force before the next General Election and act now to protect our democracy. https://lnkd.in/eTvTRVWK

We are excited to be leading a session this week at #AEA24! Shaping questions, collecting and synthesizing information, and sharing results are critical parts of an equitable evidence-building journey. However, communities are too often excluded from evidence building and use. Drawing from their chapters in our book "Next Generation Evidence: Strategies for More Equitable Social Impact,” our featured speakers will explore how local governments, philanthropic funders, nonprofits, community leaders, and researchers can shift toward more inclusive and democratic evidence practices that are relevant and responsive to the populations they serve. Together, we’ll explore questions including: -How can we meaningfully include community voice throughout the evidence-building process in service of shared learning and stronger outcomes? -How can new tools, including AI, be leveraged to strengthen practitioner-centric evidence building? -What can funders, researchers, and policymakers do differently to better support this work? If you’re at AEA, we hope you’ll join us! Learn more and download your free copy of "Next Generation Evidence" here: https://lnkd.in/eKAQ5P4C This work is made possible by the Foundation for Child Development and the William T. Grant Foundation.
