Give me 1 minute and I will teach you how to avoid this grammar trap in Italian👇 One of the trickiest aspects that even experienced learners stumble upon is the use of possessive adjectives like suo, sua, suoi, and sue. These words can easily cause confusion, but with a clear understanding of how they work, you can avoid this mistake! 🇬🇧 In English, when we talk about someone owning something, the possessive adjective is based on the gender (or identity) of the person who owns the object. 👉For example: Mario's car = his car Lucia's car= her car 🇮🇹 In Italian, this works differently. The possessive adjective reflects the gender and number of the object, not the person who owns it. 👉For example: Mario's car = la sua macchina Lucia's car = la sua macchina 💡Notice how the possessive doesn’t change based on whether the owner is a man or a woman. We use "sua" because what matters for us is the gender of the object which is owned. Have you ever fallen into this grammar trap? Share your experience in the comments, I am reading you😎

Did I read well? I thought I was not reading well so I went for my glasses. Well, I did read well. I read, "Their a very wonderful people." Teach mode was activated in a second. There is a big difference between "Their" and "They're". Let us find out. "Their" is a possessive pronoun. Here are some sentences where "Their" is used. 1. Their new place is very comfortable. 2. Their posts on LinkedIn are educative. On the other hand, "They're" is the contracted form of 'they' and 'are'. They + are = They're That means we have a subject pronoun (they) and a verb (are). For instance; 1. They're learning the English language from Angela. 2. They're the wisest people I have read about. Have you understood the two words and when they are used? You need just two strokes when you write: "Their intelligent". ❌ My good people, kindly correct your friend. 📸 I am your favourite English Language Teacher and detail-oriented proofreader on this blue app and beyond.❤️

Grammar matters...more than ever On March 4, we let our inner nerd out for National Grammar Day! The day was established in 2008 by Martha Brockenbrough, the founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar. The day’s motto is: “It’s not only a date, it’s an imperative: March forth on March 4 to speak well, write well, and help others do the same!” We take that imperative seriously, so this National Grammar Day, we are celebrating the idiosyncrasies of the English language by studying up on common grammar mistakes, proofreading our correspondence, and thanking our editors! There, their, and they're. All different. You're and your. Both different. To, too and two. All different. Please use them wisely.
