As an organization deeply involved in the rare disease community, ISF understands the complexities of the title "Rare." In a recent Patient Worthy article, our Executive Director and Isabella's mother, Erin Santos-Primis, shares insights on navigating the "messy middle" as a growing non-profit and the power of collaboration within rare disease groups. With Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month just around the corner, we encourage you to read the article and join us in raising awareness for children battling rare cancers by sharing it with your network. Thank you to Patient Worthy for amplifying our mission. 🎗 https://lnkd.in/eNgi8eKi

This year, I'm honored to be the Chair for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's PurpleStride 5K in San Francisco on Saturday, April 27. It's a role I never imagined taking on, but since my mom’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 2017, I’ve looked for ways I can make a difference. My mom, Lori, is a six-year pancreatic cancer survivor, which means she’s already beaten the odds. With a five-year survival rate of just 13 percent, pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging cancers. If you’re reading this, I invite you to join us on April 27. Whether you've been personally impacted by pancreatic cancer or simply want to support the fight against this devastating disease, I invite you to register for free, donate to PanCAN PurpleStride San Francisco, or help spread the word. If you’re in the Bay Area, there are events in San Francisco and San Jose. To join my team, Lori B’s Squad, visit: https://lnkd.in/g9G-k5Cg To register, donate, or learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/gNTYVzNJ A little about why this is important. Organizations like PanCAN and events like PurpleStride are working towards a future where all patients can thrive. PanCAN PurpleStride isn't just a 5k walk; it's a powerful movement uniting communities across 60 cities nationwide to raise awareness and funds that support critical research and provide resources for patients and families like mine. Additionally, if your company may be interested in participating further, we’re still accepting Community Sponsors at the $2,500 level. If you’re interested, reach out and we can chat further about how you can get involved. Thanks for being part of my journey and standing with me in this fight. #PancreaticCancer #PurpleStride #PanCAN

💡 Have you heard of LLS's Dare to Dream Project?! 💡 KIDS ARE DIFFERENT ...and should be treated differently for their blood cancers. Introducing The Dare to Dream Project - the bigger, bolder, next phase of LLS Children's Initiative. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) recognizes kids are different and their blood cancers need to be treated differently, so we are daring to change the paradigm of treatment and care of pediatric blood cancers. Our dream is to help as many children as possible get treatment for their cancer. We've already facilitated progress by funding a first-ever pediatric AML Data Commons, a platform that ensures consistency in global data reporting, and by launching the first-ever acute leukemia LLS PedAL Master Clinical Trial, matching patients to treatment based on their cancer's unique tumor biology. LLS is daring to improve the quality of life for every child with blood cancer, daring to dream of them thriving. And they're just getting started! Our campaign is focused on the Patient Resources and Education mission pillar, and as part of the Dare to Dream Project, we are raising money to expand free resources and support for children and families to help them cope with the financial, emotional, and psychological impact of a blood cancer diagnosis. With your generous donation, we can make a difference in the lives of the pediatric patients that can so greatly benefit from this program! https://lnkd.in/geUPFYTd #LLSVISIONARIES #LLSDareToDreamProject Pier Bruno Melissa Bruno Cristene DerBoghossian Christopher M. This picture always catches my eye-my daughters and me, smiling brightly on a sunny day. It was taken after several unexpected turns in life, including my diagnosis of breast cancer in 2013, followed by losing two mothers, a father, a brother, and the father of Cassie and Lexi. Four of us have been affected by cancer, not to mention the effect such a diagnosis has on those who supported us, and somehow, we keep smiling. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) Comprehensive Network (NCCN®) is a consulting client of mine just outside of Philadelphia. Life took an unexpected turn following a project that started in 2012. I was sitting in the waiting room of the NCCN when my pathologist from Houston called to inform me that I had breast cancer. Reaching the brochure rack to grab a copy of the NCCN Patient Guidelines® for Breast Cancer was a beacon of light that helped inform me of what to do next. I was grateful for this odd twist of fate. Life tends to come full circle. Over the years, the NCCN Guidelines for Patients® have guided me, my family, and our friends through numerous types of cancer diagnoses and treatments and helped to support conversations with our healthcare providers. Now, we can give back and help a broader community. That's why the NCCN Foundation is hosting the Inaugural Lotus Luncheon on May 16th in Houston—to raise awareness about the NCCN Patient Guidelines®, available in English and Spanish. The guidelines are free to download from the NCCN® website and provide a lifeline to countless others who, like me, seek answers in one of life’s more challenging moments. https://lnkd.in/gwVi-J2c 🌟 Your support for the NCCN Foundation is about helping people like me find hope when we need it most. It's about ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to the knowledge that can change—and maybe even save—their lives. Help us spread the word, fund the creation of more patient guidelines, and ensure that no one must face the uncertainties of cancer alone. We are stronger together! It has been 14 years since my mother died from Breast Cancer. While Breast Cancer mortality rates have been declining overall, after 2010 mortality rates stopped declining in women under 40 and actually increased for women between 20-39. Together we can provide the funding needed to combat breast cancer. Part of every wealth management strategy should include considerations for the causes that mean most to you and your clients. Donor Advised Funds can be part of a well rounded wealth management plan that reduces tax liability, provides meaningful support to important causes, and creates a legacy of giving.

🚴♂️ The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is more than just a bike ride; it's a movement that has transformed cancer research and treatment. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has raised an astounding $972 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. They undoubtedly cross the $1 billion mark this year. Today, the PMC stands as the single largest contributor to Dana-Farber and the The Jimmy Fund, responsible for 62% of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. In 2023 alone, dedicated riders, donors, sponsors, and volunteers united to raise a record-breaking $72 million for Dana-Farber. This incredible effort underscores our collective hope and aspiration to provide doctors and researchers with the resources they need to discover cures for cancer. Remarkably, 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to Dana-Farber. Corporate sponsors make the amazing associated events happen, including the main ride the first weekend of every August. The impact of our contributions is evident. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center was named the #1 pediatric cancer center in the US News & World Report's 2022-23 Best Children's Hospitals report. This recognition highlights Dana-Farber/Boston Children's as one of the top three pediatric cancer centers in the country each year since the ranking's inception, earning more #1 rankings than any other program. Join me in supporting this extraordinary cause and making a tangible difference in the fight against cancer. Together, we can empower researchers to continue their groundbreaking work and bring hope to countless families. 💪 Let's pedal towards a cure! #PMC2024 #CancerResearch #DanaFarber #JimmyFund #RidingForACure

Hello All, I am the chairman of the board for Elevate Childhood Cancer Research and Advocacy, Inc. We want to move the needle on getting more treatments and therapies into clinical trials for pediatric cancer. Some of you here may remember President Ronald Reagan. The newest therapies for pediatric cancers were last introduced while he was President. (did I just hear you gasp??? I bet I did) Our children should NOT have to BE heroes, they need heroes. They need us to be heroes. This effort is going to take a lot of money. Money to fund research and development, money to help bring all the groups out there working in this field to the table to work together and more. Our organization needs your help. Every dollar you give to us can help our organization "be at the table." When states are putting together cancer plans and intend to leave pediatric cancers out (yep...that happens), when the federal government prioritizes research dollars and only 4% goes to pediatric cancer (you read that correctly). Give today, help me help our newly formed, but already powerful and difference making organization get the funding we need to move the needle. Our children deserve better. Be a hero and give. There are 10 days left in June. $100 / day for the rest of the month. $1000 before July 1st. I know you all can do this! https://lnkd.in/eMJzjdGH Make your impact lasting by being a recurring donor. Do you have questions? Would you like to learn more about serving this organization? We are looking for volunteers and possible board members. You can contact me or my amazing sister -Robyn Spoon, M.A. Stop by the website to learn more about what we're up to. https://lnkd.in/dhpqhbAn #cancersucks #pediatriccancer #kidsshouldbekids
