As a community manager, you may have faced the challenge of a quiet or inactive community.
You might have tried various strategies: hosting games, launching educational initiatives, or soliciting feedback through surveys. Yet, despite your best efforts, engagement remained low.
I’ve been there, and today, I want to share a valuable experience.
At one point, our community experienced a significant drop in activity due to the resignation of a beloved staff member. His departure led to a noticeable decline in member engagement.
Despite introducing new activities and initiatives, the community’s participation remained stagnant.
As a proactive community manager, I decided to take a more personal approach. I reached out directly to members with friendly, personalized messages.
P.S: It’s crucial to be polite and non-intrusive, as everyone has their own preferences for involvement.
In my messages, I asked why they had become inactive and engaged in meaningful conversations to understand their concerns. I reassured them that the community would continue to thrive, with positive changes on the horizon. I shared details about upcoming plans and made them feel valued and comfortable.
The result? Member activity began to pick up that very day and gradually returned to its usual level.
So, if you find your community is going silent, consider taking extra steps to address the issue. Don’t just view yourself as a staff member; see your community as your own. Engage with members as you would with friends and maintaining professionalism.
