This weekend marks a historic moment in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: the launch of the world's first all-electric powerboat racing series – the E1 Series. This groundbreaking series is not just a milestone for more sustainable motorsport, but also demonstrates the possibilities in the realm of electric mobility. Our company is proud to be a part of this innovative event. We have equipped the racecourses with our self-positioning race marks. The Smartmarks are fully electrically operated and locate their position using precise GPS technology. Once they reach their exact location, they maintain the position without the need for anchors. This technology is not only a great time saver but also conserves valuable resources. The need for motorboats to place each buoy individually is completely eliminated. Additionally, avoiding the use of anchors reduces labor efforts and protects the seabed from disturbances. Another advantage of this innovation is the significant reduction in noise and emission pollution. We are excited about the possibilities these technologies bring and are delighted to be part of this green revolution in racing. #sustainability #electric #vision For a glimpse into the first electrifying race weekend, visit the link here: https://lnkd.in/dGxuhgha

Saudi Arabia's commitment to diversifying its economy away from oil is impressive. The ambitious plan to build a $500B ski resort in desert gives a new perspective on what can be done with today's level of technology and determination, definitely will add value to KSA's image as a tech innovator, boost tourism and economy of the region and also may bring some cultural impact in terms of understanding of Saudi's history, heritage and natural beauty. Though while the idea may seem fascinating we need to assess long-term environmental impact and risks. Will it be in balance with the nature? Or this massive development will ruin the conservation effort? As the project unfolds, it will be interesting to see how these plans materialize and the impact they will have on the region tourism industry and economy. Will I go skiing in Saudi desert? Definitely not. At least not now. I would rather chill at the beach or swimming pool in Dubai :) #menastartups #innovation #gcc #tech #asicuae #tourismindustry #saudiarabia #saudivision2030 #menaregion #advancedtechnology

How are we reacting to the idea that Saudi Arabia is building a ski resort in the middle of the desert? Are we considering the environmental challenge or should we just advocate for innovative and creative ideas? This is part of the gigantic NEOM $500B project which is supposed to have a limited carbon footprint. Isn’t it rather ironic that petrodollars - which are basically the result of pumping more carbon into our atmosphere - are now used to build a fantasy touristic destination which is still to be proven to make sense? Is this another step to open Saudi Arabia to a modern world? I’m questioning the amount of snow needed to build a ski resort here. It looks like it gets cold enough in the Saudi mountains, but when we already have lacks of snow in the Alps, will there be enough water? If they serve wine there, I might check it out by curiosity, but wine in Saudi Arabia might be as big as a challenge as having enough snow, let’s see. #skiing #climatechange #investing

https://lnkd.in/d9sYFwHh @5 things to make boating less stressful. 1. Plan ahead: Before embarking on a boating trip, make sure to do proper research. Check the weather forecasts, create an itinerary, and familiarize yourself with the boating regulations and safety guidelines of your destination. Having a well-thought-out plan will reduce stress during your trip. 2. Safety first: Ensure that you have all the necessary safety equipment on board, such as life jackets, fire extinguishers, and signaling devices. Conduct a thorough inspection of your boat's engine and other essential components before hitting the water. Knowing that you are well-prepared for any unexpected situations will help alleviate stress. 3. Take a boating course: If you are new to boating or lack experience, consider taking a boating safety course. These courses provide valuable knowledge about navigation, rules of the water, and emergency procedures. The more confident and competent you feel operating your boat, the less stressful it will be. 4. Communicate effectively: Communication is key to reducing stress while boating. Ensure clear communication with your passengers, discussing safety rules and emergency plans. Additionally, maintain communication with other boaters on the water through channels like VHF radios or marine apps. Clear and open lines of communication will help avoid misunderstandings and potential accidents. 5. Relax and enjoy: Remember to take breaks and enjoy the boating experience. Slow down, soak in the surroundings, and appreciate the time spent on the water. By relaxing and taking pleasure in boating, you'll naturally reduce stress and create a more enjoyable experience for yourself and your fellow passengers. Arivo.online

After a nearly two week tour of the Middle East, this is my last flight, so time for a countdown: 7 flights: Just over 8,000 miles flown, the same distance William Churchill and I covered last year in our challenge to drive around the world. More at www.vantageworldtour.com. 6 new meetings: Great to be extending our investor network. 5 cities: Jeddah has the friendliest taxi drivers, “Hello brother!” 4 countries: I hadn’t been to Qatar for a while, so enjoyed being back there. 3 airlines: Saudia have won my loyalty with hot mini pizzas. 2 time zones: And none too bad workwise with the UK on British Summer Time. 1 near constant question: When will interest rates start to fall? 0 gym visits: Combined with room service portions, this is not ideal. A positive trip, with a general view that 2024 is the year to get back into real estate. Just need a tickle down on the interest rates and the mood (like me) will be flying again. All the best, Philip.
