One of the biggest moments in women’s sports history BUT… Despite the immense record breaking progress of the 2023 & 2024 seasons, the women’s NCAA teams still receive no financial compensation for tournament participation, unlike the men's teams, which earn substantial revenue through the units program, with the men’s Final Four teams already securing around $10 million each for their conferences. ***First of four part series about the current state of the WNBA/women’s basketball from a scriptural perspective*** Angel Reese on 03 JUN 2024 spoke on her and others besides Caitlin Clark helping to expand the popularity of the WNBA. She’s justified in her stance and her role, for…. 1) ….Her arrival after the 2022 season led LSU from a [A] second round team in 2022 (same as Caitlin Clark’s Iowa team) to [B] Nat’l Champion in 2023 (defeating Caitlin Clark’s Iowa team), with the [C] 2023 and 2024 matchups setting various TV viewing records. 2) ….Angel Reese was essential in [A] sparking an uptick in support LSU/women’s basketball [B] regardless of age, ethnicity, team allegiance and location (home team averages over 4,000 more fans vs LSU). 3) Scriptural Perspective: ….From sports to everyday society, they’re [A] people like Eliab (1 Sam 17:28) who [B] despite "your" proven/winning ways (1-2) will not give “you” credit and will rather [C] become angry/find something “bad” about you than [D] “champion you” because [E] “it’s you”. 4/Q) Scriptural Perspective: ….As Angel Reese [A] embraced being the “bad guy”, [B] hostility results when no.3 happens (1 Sam 17:28), but [C] did that stop David? (1 Sam 17:29-30) 5) Scriptural Perspective: ….Whether a Tiger from Hemingway, SC or the Bayou, when one gains [A] joy/fandom in His excellence regardless of opposition (1 Sam 17:28-37; 3-4 above), God will [B] provide opportunities for one to be a championship “angel” (MESSENGER, HARBINGER - Merriam-Webster) with [C] results that’s proven and louder than a sellout crowd full of Gamecocks/Tigers on the prowl (1 Sam 17:49-53, 18:7; 1-2 above)!! #ScripturalPerspective

Good article
The Boston Celtics and their head coach Joe Mazzula are headed back to the NBA Finals. The Celtics’ last league championship came in 2007-08, and before that it had been since 1985-86 with basketball legend Larry Bird. They will play either the Dallas Mavericks or Minnesota Timberwolves for the championship. Coach Mazzulla is only 35 years old. and “has been unashamed to talk about his faith in Christ. Memorably, that faith was on display just a couple of months into his new role. In a postgame press conference on Dec. 2, 2023, after Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a Celtics game, Mazzulla was asked if he met the royal family. “Jesus, Mary and Joseph?” he asked, jokingly. “… I’m only familiar with one royal family.” Sports Spectrum reports “Mazzulla dealt with some legal issues while a college basketball player at West Virginia (2006-11). Yet he says that his faith has deepened in the years since as he’s been transformed by the new identity found in Christ. “I’m not the same person that I was,” “As you grow as a person, you’re constantly having to build an identity. I didn’t have one at a certain point in my life for whatever reason. You have to find a foundation, and for me that’s my faith. “… My identity comes from my faith and my purpose. I got into coaching because I’ve had people pour into me, sacrifice for me, and I want to do that for my players.” “I really had to understand grace, and when I had the ability to understand grace, I understood surrender. When I understood surrender, I understood the balance of pride and humility, where it plays into my heart and where it plays into my relationship with Christ.”

In the world of sports, the phrase "play through the pain" is often glorified, representing resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the team. However, it's a double-edged sword that demands a closer examination. Take the recent Game 7 showdown between the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers, where both Josh Hart and OG Anunoby exemplified this mentality. Despite battling injuries, they stepped onto the court, driven by the sheer determination to support their team in the most critical moment of the season. Josh Hart, known for his gritty playstyle and defensive prowess, pushed through physical discomfort to provide the Knicks with crucial minutes and defensive stability. Similarly, OG Anunoby, a key player for the Knicks, fought through his pain to contribute. Though he managed only five minutes on the court before his injury forced him to sit out, his willingness to step up in such a crucial game highlighted his dedication and mental toughness. Yet, while these acts of bravery are commendable, they also prompt us to reflect on the long-term implications for athletes. Playing through pain can sometimes exacerbate injuries, leading to prolonged recovery periods and potential long-term health issues. It raises important questions about the balance between short-term goals and long-term well-being. In our own professional lives, we can draw parallels. The drive to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and push through challenging times is essential. However, it's equally important to recognize when to step back, seek help, and prioritize our health. Sustainable success isn't just about pushing through adversity, but also about making smart, informed decisions about our well-being. Let’s celebrate the incredible dedication of athletes like Hart and Anunoby, but also advocate for a culture where health and well-being are prioritized. After all, true resilience is not just about enduring pain but knowing when to seek support. #Sports #MentalToughness #HealthAndWellBeing #Leadership #Resilience #NBA #Knicks #JoshHart #OGAnunoby

If you want to be successful in anything in life - sports, business, education, relationships, you name it - you are better off looking at what has worked for the majority of individuals who have previously been successful. For some reason, though, people always seem to be drawn to the exceptions to the rule. Using the example of baseball development, I discuss this phenomenon in further detail today: https://lnkd.in/eQ4mCNX

Former Pro Athlete | Founder of Vetted Sports | Daily insights around sports, technology & investing
They blew it out of the water this year. Last Friday, with over 14 million average viewers, the Iowa vs UConn women's Final Four-game averaged more viewers than (per Joe Pompliano*): • Any women's CBB game ever • All 2023 NBA Finals games • All 2023 World Series games • The 2023 Orange Bowl • The 2023 Big Ten Championship • The 2023 Cotton Bowl • The 2023 Pac-12 Championship • The 2023 Big-12 Championship • The 2023 ACC Championship • The 2023 Peach Bowl • The 2023 Masters Final Round • All tennis grand slam finals (men's & women's) • All 2023 CFB regular season games except one Only to be surpassed by Sunday's Championship game between Iowa and South Carolina which drew... 18.7 million viewers 🤯 The game also peaked at 24 million viewers and was the most watched basketball game — men's or women's, college or pro — in five years. Pretty insane considering that weight room video was only only 3 years ago... IYKYK. But the question remains. With superstars such as Angel Reece, Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso and Paige Bueckers taking their talents to the WNBA, will women's college basketball continue to trend upward? Without a doubt and here's why... 1) There is a conscious effort to increase viewership and awareness now more than ever before 2) There is now more investment and infrastructure, including funding, facilities and support 3) There are plenty of players who have high and very lucrative NIL profiles which gives additional exposure and visibility to the sport 4) There are several real deal hoopers who are next in line None of this is an anomaly. It's the start of a new era in women's sports. And major shoutout to Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks 👏🔥 #ncaa #marchmadness #sportsbusiness

This isn't just another draft pick; it's a moment that transcends sports, embodying the power of family, legacy, and perseverance. Father and son, side by side in purple and gold. It's not just a dream anymore – it's NBA history in the making. The Los Angeles Lakers just drafted Bronny James, LeBron's eldest son, with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Just a year ago, Bronny faced a life-threatening cardiac arrest. Now, he's on the verge of sharing an NBA court with his father – a feat never before accomplished in the league's history. As I look at this powerful image of father and son embracing in Lakers uniforms, I'm struck by the layers of meaning: Dreams realized: LeBron's long-held wish to play alongside his son is now within reach. Overcoming adversity: Bronny's journey from health scare to NBA draft is a testament to resilience. Evolving legacies: We're witnessing the torch being passed in real-time. This moment challenges us to reflect on our own professional journeys: How are we building and extending our legacies? Are we creating opportunities for the next generation in our field? How can we use our success to open doors for others? Let's celebrate this remarkable father-son achievement and consider how we can create our own lasting impact in our professional lives. What does this historic moment inspire in you? Share your thoughts! #NBADraft #Legacy #ProfessionalGrowth
